Reefbreeders/(Evergrow OEM) Fixtures D120/IT20** series

Here's my new 24 photon over my new 38 Nuvo... Love both!
The camera does this light no justice. Need to figure out how to take a good pic. I assure you there is no purple and the colors and coverage are perfect. Only going to 30% peak on both channels during break in period for the corals coming from stock IM lighting on my 16. The dusk to dawn programmability is great. The mount is a stock DVD player wall mount I found at Home Depot. It allows me to slide the unit back to work on the tank.

Ok time for par results. These are 3 - 24" photons with 90 degree lenses about 8" off the water. This is a 220 (72"x24WX30D) This is with an apogee MQ-200 on sun mode. Ill start with the old 250 watt metal halides radium 20k bulbs in lumenarc mini reflectors.

Now for the LEDs. PLEASE NOTE, my tank does not look anything like this now, I just used to same pictures because I didnt have a new good one. So they colonies are massive now with significant shadowing, so keep that in mind. In just water these levels would probably be higher. These numbers are corrected for LEDs as per apogees instructions.

First off, this is 100% blue and now whites

This is 80% blue and 70% white, which is what i am currently running with great results. I run a program that mimics the sun, so it is only at 80/70 for 1.5 hours and it ramps up to it and ramps down. Its a sine curve. A 12 hour curve. If you are interested in the spreadsheet just let me know.

And this is 100/100

Hope this helps someone make their decision. Now I can monitor these lights over the years and see if they lose any power.

I'm looking forward to their "Super Nova" light fixtures release towards the end if the year. They look very promising... :D

Quick question, I just got the Photon 24 for my frag tank. I never had LEDs before so I need help adjusting the height/intensity of the fixture.
Below are the pics of my tank and the fixture, I have wrote down the dimensions on the pic to give a better idea.

What intensity should I peak at on each channel? I am using no optics but I do have 120 optics on hand
Oh, I am mainly growing zoas/palys.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I do not want to burn my zoas lol

Here is my current light setup, I increase each channel with 30 minute increments and they peak for 2 hours and I bring it down to 0 with small changes
A: blue
B: wyrg
12-10am (no lights)
10-12 (A:5-30 B:0)
12-8 (A:30-55 B:15-30)
8-12 (A:30-0 B:0)

my buddy has the exact same light, over almost the exact same tank and exact same height, growing z & p's. He started at about the same intensity that you've started at and nothing opened for days. He lowered the light to about 25% max blue and 15% max white and everything started to come out.

Glad I found this thread. I am in the process of starting a 150 gal (48L x 24D x 30H) to upgrade from my 55 with T5's and would really like to light with led for heat and not having to replace $200ish worth of bulbs a year:lmao: I am seriously considering the reef breeders fixture. My question is would a photon 48 suffice or would 2 x photon 24's be better? My main concern would be getting enough light to my clams ~27" deep on the sand bed, plus enough light to keep my sps happy. TIA

Bump, need help here
Having a hard time reaching Reefbreeders

Has anyone used ceiling hooks to hang a IT2060?
I found a pair of ceiling hooks and anchors for drywall and are stated to hold 20lbs each.

Please let me know.

Thanks!

Sheetrock holding up a light fixture is a gamble. Crawl up in your attic and put blocks of wood up for your lighting supports. You don't know how many times I had to go in and patch walls where people used every sheetrock anchor known to man to hold up shelves, towel racks and so on and it didn't hold up.

The hangers may be rated for 20 pounds, but what condition is the cieling drywall in? Don't take the chance. It's a 10 minute job to get a board in place above the spot where you want the light. And if for some reason you can't get to it (I had a flat roof once with NO attic space), there are hangers that are rated for more than 20 pounds. Check the hardware store.

OK have a question about the reef breeders lights. I have a 125 Gallon tank 72 inches currently under a T5 8 bulb light which is awesome, But I would like to make the jump to Leds. I am currently looking at these lights and the Aqua Illumination lights. I really like the price point on these lights but am questioning do I need to customize the bulbs set up for my reef tank I see where it says 4500k on the whites and that is where my question lies did those of you who order these have different bulbs changed out under the customize link on there site?

I have a custom layout and a friend got the stock layout from EverGrow (through OceanRevive) and I like his better than mine! He has a serious sps 220g DT and I have a 180g with sps & lps and we both have great coral colors and growth!

Thank you for the response's it is just a huge investment and I dont want to kick myself later. I have two photos I keep going back and forth on 1 is of a tank under AI's and 1 under reef breeders. and I know alot comes into play on the photos. but the photo of coral under the AI lighting system is just more colorful to my eye. But I keep going back to camera type shutter speed angle. Tough decisions are a pain in the butt.. I need 3 units for my 125 it has 2 cross bars so I am nervous to do 2 longer lights and have the cross braces blocking light. Here are the two Photos I am going back and forth on and to me the AI's color just jumps out at you. The tank with AIs also has a deep red, green, and violet accent bar on either side. I know because I built that accent bar :). Also, it looks like you have our old layout in the first picture, our new one is quite a bit warmer, but that can be adjusted if you wish.
