I currently have one of the D120's over my 24G cube, and everything in my tank has exploded in size over the last 6 months. Im thinking of upgrading to a CadLights 70G, which is 36" x 24" x 18", would one D120 suffice for LPS and SPS? Or should I get a second D120?
I have a Photon24 10 inches over my 29g. with 20g.sump. I have yet to raise either of the settings above 30%. The growth and color has been very good sunce Jan. When i installed it.
I did the exact same thing between a Maxtor razor and the Photon24. The convincer for me was when i went to the home of a private frag dealer who had two of them over his frag tanks. I told him about my choice if the razor. He told me "this is what full spectrum LEDS do". He was obviously very happy with the results. I went home and ordered the Photon. The only bad thing to happen with the photon was a slip of the hand when i entered my mailing address. I got on their website, told them what happened and shut down the computer. By the time I walked down the stairs maybe one minute the phone rang and it was Logan telling me he corrected my address. I also managed to bleach my sinularia by leaving the Photon on
top of the tank while reading the operators manual. These lights ate incredibly bright so be careful. Good luck with your Photon and let us know how its going.
Crappy hang, though only temporary until Sunday when I get a chance to get everything. I've had them before, but on a system where I was still learning how to care for SPS. Now that I've got most of it down, did an awesome trade tonight and went back to RB's from an Aquatic Life T5 8-Bulb.
If These don't work out, at least their resell value isn't too bad and I'll just upgrade to ATI 6-Bulb.
I'm trying to light a 96 inch tank. Would I be able to get away with two 2040s? I know it's a stretch but I thought that if I have 10 inches from the edges of the tank 10 inches between the lights maybe it would work
You are stretching it too much. What is the width of your tank? If you are not enclosed in a short canopy, you can make up some of the lighting deficit by raising the fixture and increasing the power. Would probably recommend the 24" fixtures (IT 2060). Your proposed fixtures are 16", for a total length of 48". You would have to make up for 48" of space which would leave a space of 12" on the ends and 24" in the middle. This is way too much.
You would have significant fall off assuming your fixtures were 10" above the water.I am assuming that you will have sps. I would better be able to evaluate your situation if I knew the thank dimensions (LxWxD) and your range of height from the water as well as the types of corals you wish to keep. Optics are important also.
I would recommend one 32" fixture and one 48" fixture. Because of the width of your aquarium, I would use 120 degree optics on all the outside LEDs and the same on any LED that is not white or blue. It would be best not to have any rock near the front or back walls of the aquarium. Another better alternative is two 48" fixtures with 120 degree optics on the front and back rows and on all non white or blue LEDs.
Thanks for the advice . The tank has a 15 inch glass brace in the center so I don't necessarily need max par under it as I plan to have a softy or lps island under it which wouldn't require high par. I'm thinking that if I get the 48 inch fixtures, I'm basically just spreading the LEDs out over a longer area and thus, decreasing the par in areas of need
Don't worry about the glass. You obviously have a mixed reef. Keep the glass clean and there will be plenty of par for the softies or even seriatopora.
Hi everybody, I just joined the club and got a d120 v2. I have a question regarding the uv leds. I noticed that the uv leds look like they are very dim and appear to be almost white in colour. Is this normal? I ask because in pictures and other fixtures i have seen they are violet in colour and they seem brighter. I am curious because according to the specs these leds are 400 - 420 and I realize that true uv light cannot be seen by the naked eye and think that might be the reason for this.
How many D120 for a 60"x18x23 tank? Regular Evergrow, or should i go with the Reefbreeder Value? Or the IT2060? But for the price of 2 2060's, I could get a photon 48, which would cover my 60" tank quite well IMO.
Liking the idea of sitting the lights on top of my canopy...really like that idea. Would love to have them on an internal timer, but I can do that with an external one.
two photon 24s is ideal but a photon 48 would work also. Go with reef breeders. I am very happy with mine. 2 yr warantee, free shipping upon purchase and for warrantee work. Great support.
Hello, i have a 48x24x24 tank and i was wondering if a photon 32" was enough to light all the tank. Do i need 120° optics or are the 90° optics ok?
I know the 48" version exists but i think too much light will be 'out' of the tank due to the fact that both tank and photon have exactly the same size.
