Reefbreeders/(Evergrow OEM) Fixtures D120/IT20** series

I just spoke to Logan and he said that they do not offer CREE

I thought they would do a fixture with crees, that it just cost more.

Maybe Breef Breeders doesn't offer it, but I know EverGrow did back in Dec when I placed my order with them. I have to admit that I've been somewhat less than impressed with Reef Breeders. They had really poor comunications with customers when they started to carry the EverGrow fixtures Nov and into Dec of 2012). I tried to get them to reply to the same group buy I ended up doing direct with EverGrow and they barely acknowledged they got my email. EverGrow still sends back evening emails (they are 13 hrs ahead of me... time zone wise) in an hour. If RB are just taking an order for a custom led layout and having EG make it and ship it to RB, why can't they do the Cree leds? I haven't checked since I placed my order, has EG stopped offering Cree leds in their fixtures? I know they are on holiday until Mon the 18th.

Thanks for the numbers! Pretty crazy numbers on this thing. are you able to get some par numbers at certain percentages? I've got my lights hung 10.5" above the water line and im at 40/25 right now. my goal is 80/50 but that may be too much on a 12" tall tank. could you get some par numbers at 60/40 and 40/25 at the 10" height you have

Sure, will post later this evening. Keep in mind, my layout is customized, but it will get you in the ball park.

60 blue/40 white and 40 blue/25 white?

They stopped offering crees a little while ago, we asked about, and would carry cree fixtures if they were offered. As for communication, we recently updated our email system, a lot of people were not recieving emails in the time you mentioned, even when we were replying to them, they would not send out.

60 blue/40 white and 40 blue/25 white?

Im also custom at about 2.5:1 ratio for blues to white. 60/40, 50/25, 40/25, and also 20/5. That last setting is for just illumination purposes before ramp up and down. Hopefully not too much to ask :D

I am having a 50 x 36 x 30 tank made. What would you run on this tank?
I would use 4 16" fixtures, with 90 degree optics. 2 32" would not quit cut it on the spread for the 50" width.

Yes It`s 120 36 by 24 - 435G all acrylic with 10" acrylic top braces.
So there will be 6" spaces from sides and between the lights over 10 foot area.
I would use 2 rows of 2 32" controllable fixtures with 90 degree optics, or 2 rows of 5 value fixtures.

Does anyone know how much the 32" fixture weighs? The plant hanger brackets only hold so much weight, the heighest I've found is around 25 pounds
It weighs about 18 pounds, I would use conduit, or sturdy shelf brackets.

Also I have a 65 gallon tank with the stupid plastic center brace, can I use the 24" controllable 120w fixture and not notice a large shadow? The tank contains mostly GSP, mushrooms with one LPS and one SPS coral. Currently I am using a 4 lamp T5HO light with no issues. This tank houses my mis-fit small angels who can not play nice with corals in my 300 (example: Golden)
The center brace has minimal effect on the light, you would be just fine mounting the light with 90 degree optics at about 6" over the water.

Glad to hear that you have made improvements at your end. And as soon as our club knows how many of which lights we want, I'll be asking you guys for prices.

Too bad about EG not doing Cree anymore, but my Bridgelux lights all make more than enough PAR to keep all my sps & lps happy even down in the tank.

My setup is 2.5:1 as well.

So do you guys think their default layout is good as far as colors of LEDs they use? What are you guys who are doing custom layouts choosing

There default layout is pretty good (honestly I've only looked at it once and though... OK, looks kind of like mine). You can do whatever you want in the custom layout. What are you looking to get out of the lights? How big is your tank (especially depth)? What do you keep, or plan to keep in the tank (zoas, softies, lps, sps)? What look do you like in terms of color (10K, 14K or 20K)?

I'll make 2 suggestions up front:

1) Switch out the 450nm blue moonlights (too bright for me) for 2 410nm violet and a 400nm UV in the middle, or do all 3 with violets, and put 120 degree lenses on all 3. I have 2 standard 450nm blue and a 410nm violet and I run my moonlights at 1 or 2% (you have from 1-9%). I think with the violet and UV, or all 3 as violet, you'll be able to run moonlights at 5-7% and have more control both up and down scale in terms of how bright they look.

2) Order some extra 120 degree lenses and swap out the 90's on all leds except the blue and white. You won't have a lot of reds, violets, UV or greens, so use the 120 degree lenses to help spread those colors out over the area and avoid any spotlighting. Even if you don't see it with your eyes, it's still there, just being over powered by the white and blue leds. You put the other colors in for a reason, so why use 90 degree lenses on them and hold them into a narrow beam. Use 120's and let all the corals share, not just the one under that led.

I'm interested in the 32" fixture. I have a 70 gallon corner tank. The fixture will be mounted 12" above the water line. From the water line to the sandbed is 22". Tank is 16"x45". Also, there is a center brace that runs down the center of the tank that is 2 1/8" wide. I want to grow sps in the tank. Will this fixture be adequate? Also, what optics should I get?

Didn't even realize we upgraded tanks to feed our reef addiction at the same time. Both tanks looked/look really good.

I think it will be adequate. The center under the light will be plenty, at the edges there is probably still enough, but you might consider getting some 120 degree lenses (they're cheap... like $0.20 each) and use them if you need them in the last row or 2 at the ends. Lets see what bhazard451 and/or RB think.

I was about to buy 2 radions gen1 for my tank then I saw this and was like hmmmm.
