Reeferhead's 60gal Softie/Jawfish Build

Any updates, how are the fish doing?

Not great :(

I was waiting to update this thread until everything sorted itself out but a few days ago I had to update my other thread on the Fish Disease Forum...

I believe I'm down to just two jawfish. I hope they pull through. I sent an email to Sealife Inc yesterday morning to let them know what was going on as a courtesy. I think it goes without saying but I'm very disappointed

Man sorry to see this. Has the vendor given any response to the email you sent them?

Yes, Sealife Inc has always been quite responsive to my emails. Apparently, they have not had any issues with their jawfish since my second order. I hope we can figure out what the issue is/was but I've decided to take my business elsewhere in the future. I'm going to try not to pass blame. Perhaps I've just been highly unlucky but based on my experiences I don't feel comfortable placing another order with them.

Sorry to hear this Nick. I hope things turn around for you on this tank.

Me too, this system has seen twice as many days without jawfish than it has with them. :( At least my zoas and rics are doing awesome. This new bulb combo is giving me the best color and growth I've seen yet. Perhaps I'll snap some growth pics tomorrow to boost my mood.

When your in a slump and motivations wane I've always found it best to focus on the positives... So how about some updated pics and growth shots?

Reef is starting to fill out

One of two jawfish I have left. They're still showing parasitic symptoms of some sort (may be ick rather than velvet) but their both eating and may pull through.

Another good thing... I finally found a group of peppermint shrimp with a taste for aiptasia and they're practically all but eliminated out of both tanks :D

Nice growth shots Nick!

Agreed with focusing on the positive too! If I only focused on the bad things that have happened over the years I would have been out of the hobby a long time ago. Luckily, my successes have far outweighed my failures. With persistence, I'm sure you'll get this fish thing sorted out. :)

After the dust finally settled, three survived. They still display an ick spot here and there but I think they're pretty much resistant at this point. I don't think I'm going to try and get anymore jawfish until these three finish out their lives naturally. Then I can run the tank fallow and try again with a larger group.
