@crab000

The first 50 Pices 170´s are ready and packed. So he go tomorrow on Air with UPS-Express. The next 50 Pices go Monday to Canada/USA. Tomorrow we posting a Picture of the 170´s manufacturing.....

For the Comparsion Red Dragons vs. ATB´s, please dont forget the large Differences :
> we using CNC-Turned and CNC-milled special Needlewheels.
> we using 3 Specialmade Titanium Srews for the Pumphead. (Total for the 170´s Cones : = 12 Titanium Grade2 Screws.. ( no Plasticscrews )
> we using a handglued and unbreakable Tungstenshaft...(No Pond-Ceramicshaft)

Only these differences cost +/- 80-100.- Dollar more......

This example are only for the Mini Red Dragons. For the bigger RD-Pumps, the Differences are still larger.... (Handmade Anticalziumbypass, SIC-bearings)
ATB-Pumps dont have this Features.......

Picture of a RE-CNC-Turned-and Milled Needlewheel. The Cost of a CNC-made Needelwheel for manufacturing is +/- 50.- Euro. A Injectionmolded Needlewheel cost 20 Cents.... The CNC-made Needlewheels are a lot of better, as Injectionmolded Pices. CNC-made Needlewheels are very good balanced and out of vibrations. Thats Fact.

This means that would take 2-3 weeks to be shipped out to USA and then 3-4 weeks to shipped out to me?¿

The waiting continues.. :o

WOW! Looks great! Klaus, thanks so much for the update! It looks like you guys did your homework on this design and I am really looking forward to getting mine!

crab, congrats on your spawning event! Your life will never be the same again! :D

I think it's funny that a lot of American companies import German milling machinery for the engineering and precision and the Germans bring in American machinery for the same reasons! :) Sorry to get OT! Just a random observation!

Thanks bigtex52! Our daughter is 7 so it will kind of be like starting all over!

Very nice pics. RE does do nice work. Build quality is to notch. I ahve said this to Jeremy many times on the phone as well. I like the fact that the work area is clean as well. Just means that they might take some pride in there product and work area. Nice pics.

Here are the facts

If we include heresay, which is not enforcible:
___________________________________________________
Heresay cost of AirStar 1300 (per someone's "belief"): $250

Heresay cost of RD: Anywhere from $399.99 to $0.01 :)

Therefore, maximum cost difference is $150 with ATB being cheaper.
___________________________________________________

In consideration of the facts based upon either enforcible or heresay pricing, I'm still left w/the opinion that RE and ATB replacement pumps are of SIMILAR high cost. ATBers can get on this forum and make all the claims they want but they have no argument. We both are EQUALLY OVERCHARGED for our precious pumps.

the $250 price is on ATB's Website not heresay.
This isnt a huge Deal fella's. I do my best to make sure the simple facts are out on the table for everyone to see. Good bad or indifferent. I dont get anything for backing one skimmer or another. I believe a skimmer should perform, be well built, and reliable. I can only compare the skimmers I have tested to the others I have tested to draw my conclusions. I am not saying ATB or Warner Marine, or a bubble king are better skimmers. For my setup, the atb or bk mini are in my opinion better choices.

I see the 170's have some set backs and maybe some changes. I know it sucks for those who are waiting on them but I am sure they are doing it to make sure you get the best possible product they can deliver to you. I have called and talked about pre ordering one of the 170's a couple times. Have I.. No. But I am a big fan of askoll driven skimmers. But it is hard to detune the 1500 motor block that far for the smaller body. I would like to see more 200 owners post pics of their skimmers and see how they are liking them.
Time will tell and I too am awaiting the 170. Really curious what the end numbers will be.

Here are the facts:
__________________________________________________
Enforcible cost of RD replacement pump (per Jeremy): UNDER $400 (which could mean $399.99 but could also mean $250)

Enforcible cost of AirStar 1300 (per ATB website): $500

Therefore, minimum enforcible cost difference is ~$100 with RD being cheaper.

for you "Facts" section, you should note that the under $400 price for the RD pump is with the "trade in" of your pump. (as stated by Jeremy) and the price you have listed for the ATB pump is for a new one with no trade in, on the ATB website you'll see that you can buy a replacement motor block and needlewheel for $250.00.

who really cares? bottom line: your pump isn't going to fail and if it does the company should stand behind their product and take care of you.
also, if I spend a grand on a skimmer I want it to have the best pump possible not the cheapest! :D

If you are replacing the block because it is defective or inop, why would you want to keep it anyway? Other than the PITA and cost of sending it back, I don't really see much difference there.

Exactly! These skimmers are not running the circa 1999 Rio pumps on them!

They are all nice pumps. I just dont post heresay though. I take a great deal of pride in my word as do al of us here I would assume. I dont tell people something just because of pride or it will make a sale. think its hard to take what is said on here in how its meant to be taken.

Every skimmer talked about in here are awesome skimmers. No doubt that they have great pumps. I never look at pump price when buying as skimmer. LOL I figure it better last me 2 to 6 weeks or we have a real issue. :)

I read just about every forum on skimmers daily. here and other places. I am her only trying to help.
I ll stay clear from this forum. Thank you all for your info and good luck with your product.

I ll be swift like a ninja, in and out. lol you wont know I am here.

I cant wait till the frag s swaps come back around in the area and can talk to more people one on one. Then you can really get a undrstanding of peoples needs and you can tell how somethings are meant to be taken.
Its all good. I can wait to hit some meetings. I wish MACNA wasnt so far away like 14 hour drive or something. I dont think I ll be able to make it. hard to tell its too early.

Yep. I know what you mean. Atlantic City too far for me this year. Maybe San Antonio next year!

AMEN and halleluiah! I think we all now agree the replacement pump issue is a NON-issue!

Mojo, I certainly meant no disrespect by classifying your quoted pricing as "heresay". I've sent you a PM detailing why I didn't give your pricing the same respect that I did Jeremy's.

If anyone needs information added to ATB's website, then please let me know. It seems I alone have the power to have information added to their website. LOL! The $250 replacement pump pricing was added sometime after my posting about the "heresay" pricing. I'll certainly give Victor credit... he is listening to ReefCentral. Maybe we should start a thread about a "heresay" pricing of $400 on the ATB 1050 :).
