Scarus quoyi and Thalassoma lunare

Thinking of getting one of these. Kind of wanting the Scarus, but I'm a bit worried for my SPS :hmm2:Now I know that these parrots are somewhat reef safeish for a parrotfish, but there is still the possibility of them going for my SPS.

Now the wrasse would be a "poor man's parrotfish" in this case :lmao:
To me it kind of resembles the quoyi, but it's reef safenes isn't that good either...

So what do you think? I really like the wrasse, but wonder if it'll be a smart move to get one

I would go with the Scarus quoyi. I have one and it doesn't touch my SPS at all. T. lunare are too frenetic for most reef aquariums plus they will decimate your inverts.

I'd avoid the thalassoma simply for the eye extracting they are known for :(

Thank you!
I spoke with a friend on Facebook last night about this, and he said the same thing.
He's a hydrobiologist and the intendent of SeaLife here, and he said that the wrasse will eat all things finless! Oh my my my... We don't want that, do we?

But the parrot gets quite large... Or does it actually reach those lengths in captivity?
And I am getting a 4-5" Coris gaimardi soon, so that'll be wrasse enough for me! Only wrasses I have are cleaner and sixline.

What do you feed your quoyi with Chooch1? I wonder if my weggie foods and Nori would be any good. The good thing is that I can basically feed what I want. I have a big ATS that keeps my PO4 under 0,1mg/l and thanks to bio pellets no3 is now 25mg/l. And I feed with a bucket!! no3 used to be 100mg/l

There is another thread about quoyi in th aggressive fish forum, and I think someone there mentioned that their parrot was aggressive to large wrasses.

I can say that mine makes it very well known that he doesn't like my face, or when I wear red shirts, as he will try to attack me through the glass if I come too close

Rapide,

My Quoy's eats everything including frozen, flake, pellets. I try to feed Spirulina flakes a few times per week. Mine does not enthusiastically eat Nori. It also grazes on my live rock.
