Taylor's Tech 120 build

Started running biopellets at half of the recommended dose. I have the return line faced into my skimmer inlet. Im going to watch the phosphates and nitrates for the next few weeks to see how the pellets are effecting my nutrients. Nitrates and phosphates are already pretty low but I plan on overfeeding and skimming heavy.

Looking good Taylor =).. Shoot me a text I can let you use a par meter if you want to make the drive. That sunpower is putting down some serious par from my experience so a par meter will be your best tool/friend right now.

Just some food for thought You may want to think about modding the reactor to be a recirculating reactor with a few more holes and a feed pump just for better control (there is a few threads on it).. That's just my opinion though because I'm a weiner and have had everything to do it for like a year but I'm scared and stick to carbon dosing a set amount =) .. I know one person who crashed their tank in 2 months running pellets and have read of others also. Another friend has the recirculating one you buy ready to go and he can basically tweak his nitrates to whatever number he is shooting for over the course of a month or so(well he says he can lol). I guess I'm just apprehensive to run one full bore.

I will definetely hit you up for the par meter soon. I have no idea how this compares to my 6x24 watt powermodule that was over my 2 foot cube. I actually raised the lights a little after reading your post.

I found the thread you're talking about and will look into it in more detail. I did do a mod already that creates a better/more even tumble with the tlf 150. I plan on testing nitrates and phosphates a few times a week to make sure I dont get too low too fast. Luckily it's a newer system with no p04 and low n03. A lot of the crashes I've read about were with more established systems with higher nutrients to start off with.

I am dosing mb7, acro power, and am feeding reef chilli to the tank. I need to talk to you about your fresh sea food mix too.

I've got a beananimal and really like it. Super quiet and it's nice to know I'm unlikely to have a flood:). Highly recommend them:D

I added this little basket to put all my rock rubble in to make it easier to rinse. This way I can pull this whole thing out and rinse it in water change water. Im thinking off making a black acrylic lid to block out the light.

thanks for the build pics, something i've been meaning to do myself!

curious i see your skimmer water level (water level in sump relative to skimmer body) much lower than where i keep my SRO Skimmers (3000 and SSS6000). My thinking is the bubble blasters work much harder with a lower sump water level...even though the manufacturer reps suggest it. So i keep my skimmers much deeper in the sump water level.

curious of your thoughts/rational for your positioning of the SRO Skimmer...

It's only there because the manufacturer suggested it. I couldn't find much info on these skimmers at the time I set it up.

Im pretty happy with the performance so far but would be willing to drop it down a bit if you noticed a big difference.

Man that scape is awesome, great job:beer:. Did you use cement to glue the rock together? I can't wait till this tank is stuffed with expensive sticks:D

Finally got some par readings for my tank. I took readings at 4" and 6" above the water line before sending the unit back . Thanks again Daniel.

This unit really puts out some good par. I think Im most shocked on the par levels on the bottom of the tank. Let me know what height you think is better. This tank is SPS dominant so Im leaning towards 4" but 6" would be better for some of my LPS and zoas im guessing.

Things are looking great! I have say again, that I really like the clean plumbing. Where do you get red PVC? Sorry if that's been asked already.

Thanks! Mine was just painted with Krylon Fusion since BRS was sold out of red at the time. There are a few threads with people doing the same.

Thats some serious PAR. 6" height is just fine even for SPS. Most people hang their T5 units 8-10inches. Tank looks great!

Looks nice !

Maybe I missed it but what are the dimensions of the tank?

48" 24" 24"

Thanks Sahin. I'll keep it at 6" for now since I have so much par even on the zoas at the bottom.

My SPS are struggling for some reason so Im trying to figure that out. My parameters are basically close to ULNS so Im thinking that may be an issue since my KH was at around 9-9.5 . I've brought that down to 8 in the last week by turning off the dosing pumps. Hoping this will solve my problems. It's weird though that even with the super low nutrients that my zoas, lps, and softies are all doing great.
