I vote Option 1. You had a 55, right? Get a 75. Better footprint, same equipment.

I dont like to reuse sand. It is cheap enough to just get new sand and not have to worry about any trapped badness with in the old stuff.

You can get new, or just wash it out. Either is fine. Personally, I wash it.

If you don't mind killing off the good stuff as well as the bad, just put it in buckets, fill with water a few inches over the sand, swish it around and dump out the water. Repeat until the water is clear.

Its hard to walk away from something that you have put so much time and effort into. I did it recently. The cost is something I'm not prepared to get into again. I still cruise the forums and read about the problems of those with far more knowledge/tech than I. I feel the frustration. Good luck.

I've reused sand. Just be sure and wash it out real good as recommended.

After all, even 'new' sand has to be collected/cleaned somewhere.

The rock would be tougher. No matter what, you'll end up with a new cycle on the rock.
