SVS3-24 with 5" extension tube, run with Fluval sp4. My tank is still under cycling and look at the skimmate being pulled out. Needless to say, picture says it all.

Prox, what were you running before and have you had any temp increase from the sp4?

Question, what's with the lid on the sump? Does that help out with something?

Thank you

Nathan

Less salt creep, less evaporation I'd think, noise reduction. Probably some other benefits.

I've seen a lot of newer custom sumps include covers.

@Johnseye - I tried to run this skimmer with RO Waterblaster HY3000 and HY5000 previously. Both pumps are not able to cope with pressure from venturi restriction. Flow is reduced tremendously. As for the heat, I do not see any different but that probably due to the fact I use room aircond to chill the tank (25 - 26c). 1c increase during the lighting period. Fluval SP4 is able to handle pressure much better but that probably due to the higher lph rating. I am not entirely sure but the pump and SVS3-24 (+4" extension tube) are a good combi.

@n8n - Less evaporation (less humid/moist) and prevent splash/salt creep. The cover also make the sump look neat.
