UCSB Santa Barbara NSW Natural Sea Water...

I can do 40-50 gallons in my Civic using 5 gallon jugs. Its way more than I need at one time, but I always seem to use it up.

Got my first batch of water today, going to do a water change tomorrow. Has anyone tested for Mg- just curious. If I have read the earlier post right, can I store this water in a 55gal garbage can for 3-4 weeks with no ill effects?

Has anyone ever been asked to get a parking permit to get water? I was filling up my first container and was stopped by someone from the school and told I needed a parking permit to park and get the water. No big deal-it was only $2. I just dont remember anybody posting anything about it.

Depends if parking services spots you or not. Most of the time they will not and it is not a problem. I have been working on campus for around 3 yrs steady one construction project after another and parking services are strict. At the end of the day they are just doing there job. I would not sweat them if approached by them its just 2 dollars.
Now that they have removed the booth at the entrance I'm not even sure where the closest place is to buy a parking pass is.

Never had that problem either. Interesting. Its not technically a parking lot behind the lab where the water is, so I dont know where they get off asking you to pay for parking.

I've never had that problem either. But I'm usually up there at 7am on Sunday morning getting my 200+ G of water. :D Not many people up and around at that time.

I've only had to wait once so far.

I've stored the water for months with no ill effects.

it was me he had to wait for, sorry about that. i too go early on the weekends. pretty quiet then. i usually go walk on the beach while my 400 gallon and 250 gallon containers fill.

I don't use anything when I store it, just leave it out side. When I do my water change, I just drain out the old and pump in the new.

Now that I have larger tanks, I don't store any water any more as I use it all that day. I drain out the old water and then pump the new water straight from the containers in teh truck into the tanks. No problems and I've been doing it like this for a while now.

I leave my water in the garage in 5 gallon jugs. As long as light doesnt get to it you shouldnt have problems. I'll bring a bottle or two in the house to warm to room temp before I replace the water.

For the bee hives in the area. They just want you to be quiet and/or not gas the hives adjacent to the saltwater.

man this sucks i am 1 hr away from from scripps and 2 hrs from UCSB i just wish they had one here in Long Beach i guess i am stuck at paying 33c a gallon for catalina water.

yes it will save you money. i get 600 gallons at a time and drive up from west los Angeles.

although $.33 a gallon is a great price.

Does anyone have any horror stories about the UCSB water? I use it, but I've heard of Santa Barbara locals having their tanks crash after using the UCSB NSW.

I have heard stuff from Ocean Floor in Goleta about the water, but that's because they wanna sell you their water at $1.25 a gallon (or was it $1?). Being so close to the source, of course they will tell you its crap. Ive had better results with UCSB water than Ocean Floor water.
