Vertex Skimmer club

the in 180 will work fine from 7 to 9 tops I would say 7 to 8 would be optimal. the 180 is a really good skimmer for the $$$

I have the IN-180 in a 30g trash can until I finish my new sump. I poured 24 hours worth of skimming from my AquaC EV-120 in the trash can and the Vertex took in out within 5 minutes. I'm really excited to see what this skimmer can do on my heavily stocked 120g!

Could anyone tell me the footprint of the IN-100. Some websites state 8x10 while others say 11x13. This is crucial information as i have roughly a 10x11 space in my sump for a skimmer. Thank you.

My sump is 8 1/4 x 11 and it is a tight fit. I dont think 8x10 would be enough. Just a heads up.

I have a 10 x 11 space for a skimmer, you have an IN-100 and it fits in the 8 1/4 x 11?

Yes I have the new in 100 gen 2 skimmer. I asked the same question here a few days ago with no response so I bought it without knowing if it would fit. You would have a little more room than I did so you'd be fine.

Would the Gen2 100 be OK in a 20 Gallon Long Sump or should I do a Gen2 180? Would the 180 work in a 20 Gallon Long Sump? Just wondering let me know.. I am looking to upgrade my Sump System in my 72 G BF and need some advice.

Thanks
Frankie

my gen 2 IN 100 is on its way from aquacave, cant wait to replace my seaclone. i have 9'x11'inches of play room, it better fit! lol

I have the 180 in a 30g (36"x12"x16") tank. I believe the 20g long is 30"x12"x12". If that's the size of your tank, then the 180 will fit (and I believe the 100 would fit as well). The 180 will take up about 16" of your length though, so make sure you have enough room for anything else you are planning. It will be an inch or two less then 16" if you eliminate all the output plumbing after the tee as mojo suggested.

Nice skimmer. I never use the plumbing coming out of the T. that way you dont get any back pressure.

I am sure you will like the product.

Mojo~

Mojo,
Do you keep the tee above or below the water level in your sump? Thank you.

got my IN 100 yesterday! talk about tight fit, i was freakin out. but its in my sump skimming away, within in one night the collection cup had a half inch of skimmate! definatly a great buy

I'm not mojo, but you should keep the tee above the water level in your sump to reduce back pressure.

if i'm not mistaken the T ends up right around the water level you should be at. I think the T on my IN180 is like half under water.

Have you tried adjusting the standpipe to lower the water level in the skimmer itself? Have you added any chemicals to the tank in that time? Some chemicals will cause the skimmer to go crazy for a little while.
