Want a centerpiece anemone

Yeah, I'd didn't mean to single out the price so much. It's just prohibitive because when I see one of those rare colors it's frequently both in bad condition and expensive and an anemone that must be planned for to begin with.

ryanrid,
There was someone, from Sydney, who wrote about cutting Gigantea several years ago. Do you remember who it was? I need to apologize to that person. I think there are some recent data regarding cutting Gigantea. I still would not do it but it appears that some Gigantea survives that process.

that was me....the blue gig pictured is the one i propped 4 years ago.

Lol. That store is 5 minutes from me. Haven't been there in a year because I didn't care for it last time I went. Will have to check it out again.

There are actually like 4 saltwater stores within 15-20 minutes of where I live, but I just never see anemones as exotic as what's here on this board. Also they are frequently in poor condition. Once in a while, one will get a blue or red carpet and charge at least $600 for it.

Red carpets are about that everywhere.
That LFS by you had a great stock just before the holidays, a little low now though.
They still have Christmas snowmen/women up, maybe fitting since the wife/GF or whoever the female is was a bit frosty!
I asked one question and I'm pretty sure she just hucked the phone at the guy.

Yeah that's not going to happen. Back to the non-sand dwellers!
Reef safe flowerpot or PVC pipe works too.

You can create conditions for any kind of anemone in that tank size so it end up in personal preference which clown/nem (natural) pair u like most :D

Pretty sure Peter has tried something similar to that before, and typically this does not work so well as it might not be in the location the nem wants to be.

Was at a LFS yesterday and couldn't pass up this extremely healthy looking mag. Super tight mouth, very dark overall color.

Ha!
I got a mag yesterday too, finally found one, had to drive to anaheim to get it(reefers lounge, great store)
Where did you get yours?
Looks great!

LOL, yeah I read your FS post yesterday and hoped I didn't snake it from you!

It was at Vets Pets. The column color isn't much to look at (brown) but the tentacles are nice, and it was just so healthy looking, I couldn't pass it up. How's yours doing?

Lol, I called every LFS here yesterday EXCEPT vets pets!
Honestly yours is healthier at this time as mine was just shipped and somewhat bleached, but mine has rose colored tentacles w/ green tips, so I think it should be beautiful once it completely regains health.
I'm just happy after months of searching I finally have what I really want and need for my clowns, and it anchored where I put it in less than a minute, so that is a good sign.
All good, cheers!

Very nice pick up, Peter! Glad you found a healthy one to start with. You better keep us updated with pictures. ;)

I've only seen one mag in any LFS around me and it was a brown one, similar to the one pictured for LA's mag. Surprisingly, it was healthy with a tight mouth and anchored well.

Thanks Kyle, I'm really happy with the health of this specimen. You know me, I'll update with pics, good or bad :D

I have a few options:

1. Move the clarkiis out of their own tank into the reef (unlikely, as they are comfortable there, and I've even observed nesting type activities lately).

2. Find a wild caught pair of my dream clownfish, A. bicinctus (yeah, right  )

3. Find a nice percula or ocellaris pair like I had originally in the reef.

I'm sure if you have some patience you can find option 2. The clarkii complex is one of my favorites since they aren't as commonly kept as the ocellaris or percula.
