Want to ride with me through my 58g setup ?

Since it was by invitation, I am officially tagging along. :D

I like how those canopy doors open, btw. Usually I don't like the ones I see, but these look pretty good to me.

So how deep will your DSB be?

How is the SCWD working out thus far?

Great pictures, keep updating us. From the title, I thought perhaps you'd strapped a micro cam on the back of an amphipod and set it loose in your system.

 You know I'm way to lazy for a DSB ........

Thw SQWD is working so far with the fresh water . The one on my 120 was changed once in the very begining but has held up since .:)

Thanks , the doors came out better then I thought they would . I also rabbited them in opposite directions so they overlap not to let light out .

OMG what a bad week for the tank !

OMG what a bad week for the tank !

This has to be one of my worst weeks in this hobby . Nothing major , just one thing after another .

Last Thursday I go to change the lights over . I wanted to use the same 250w DE pendants (SLS III's) with new ballasts and bulbs for 150's . I bought the sockets , took the pendants apart to find the old screws won't go through the new sockets holes . So 10:00 PM home Depot here I come , They don't carry metric .:mad2: So Lowes here I come . Got the right screws there . I get home and DBL check and they fit well . So time to put the sockets in . The socket holes don't line up with the pendent hole . Now 11:30 PM I'm just tired and stupid . But I move on so the tank swap can happen . I put the 250 w DE's over the tank . Now I have 2- 150 w Ballasts , bulbs and sockets I don't need .

Friday comes and I go to put the rock and corals in the new 58 ,:eek2: Holly cow this tank is soooooo much smaller . I have less room then I thought and planed . So now I'm snapping corals off rock and trying to make the big rocks fit a little tank . Needless to say I had to use the chisel on the rocks too .

I think you people would have shot me if you had seen all the frags that went to waste that day .:uzi: But at least I got the rocks and corals in there so I'm some what happy .;)

I put my new fish that's been sitting in my sump in the 58 . I beautiful regal angel . Then I get my clown , algae blenny and flame angel in the new tank . I crushed my poor neon goby moving rocks .:(

Now I'm watching the flame chase the regal relentlessly .:furious: I was thinking new home , bigger regal no problems . WRONG !

Sunday the chasing has lead to a loss of scales , sooooo the tank came apart and no more MR. Nasty Flame .

Sunday night I get home from a nice day at my fathers celebrating mothers day and My wife's birthday , What do I find ? the skimmer kicked into overdrive and dumped 15g on the floor . It went through the floor and dripped on My hot water heater and boiler motors .:hmm4: Now I had to clean that up and get them going again .

I got home yesterday to find the motor popped on the hot water heater after all , I'm not even sure what this is going to cost me yet .

Well enough of the moaning , I had to vent .:D

Well this is what the lights look like in the canopy.

And here's the skimmate from the settled down skimmer .

Looks good Joe. Moving tanks wouldn't be normal if there wasn't at least one disaster. I don't think I have ever switched tanks without something catastrophic happening.

That is why I'm not trying to transport anything up there.

Besides, it looks like you'll be able to frag plenty of things for me if I ask nicely (Please??? - I'll keep Chris away from you (waves a bright shiny object)).

What are you doing for your alk/ca supplements? Reactors?

John

Thanks Guys .:)

John , yea I think I can squeeze some frags out for ya ....

I'm trying to do B-Ionic only . If I can't keep up I'll be looking for a micro calcium reactor .

great looking 58gal. i LOVE mine.

if i were you i would get rid of the SCWD and get a www.oceansmotions.com 4way heavy duty unit. they ROCK you will be SOOOOOOO much happier.

great job so far.

i like the Deltec skimmer...keep us posted on how it performs

Looking great Joe.;) I love how you left so much room for your corals to grow vertically. I like your new fish too. I've been thinking about getting a regal for some time now.

Lunch, I agree, the OM's are great but I don't think they would work for Joe because you can't use them with eductors/penductors.

All the corals look beautiful, and you can't even see all the spots where you fragged them, nor does the rock look chiseled. Congrats!

Travis - i meant get rid of the educators and use just a OM unit

And then he would be left with a fraction of the amount of flow that he has now.:)
