Warner Marine Now Has A Pellet Product

From what I'm reading about this solid-carbon stuff...both this and the NP...it seems like this will complete change things for us...just like GFO and GAC it will be a "necessary" component to reefkeeping.

I'm definitely sold on the concept and will get this instead of replenishing my Seachem DeNitrate.

I'm upgrading from a 150g tank to a 280g with large sump, in-line frag tank, and fuge...total system volume will be 350g after accounting for displacement. I'll probably still run my single phosban reactor with it though, just to be sure.

I'd expect to be able to see some signs of pores and other structures if it was a sponge. A sponge should be reasonably solid, too. I can't tell much from the picture, personally..

I have had the same stuff under some of my rocks for the last year. I always assumed it was bacterial. I am getting some EB as soon as they get it in. I will post if mine goes away as well. My guess is that the bacteria on the pellets are consuming the food from the water column faster than it is required to maintain the rock colony. A good thing.

How do you figure? I was assuming that nutrients are becoming limited. Certainly not proof though.

I think it is bacterial because it looks like a bacterial mat to me in the picture but it's hard to tell. Also bacteria tend to grow on glass early on in carbon dosing such as vodka and vinegar dosing. Extra organic carbon enhances bacterial growth so I think the growth shows some extra food source
( organic carbon ) in the tank where the bacteria is colonizing.

Got it. I just read it wrong. That's what I thought... and I only thought that after reading up on carbon dosing and people talking about bacteria blooms. I first noticed it in my sump and it has been there for months.... but then I noticed it on the the undersides of all my rocks in the tank. I wondered if it was contributing to my clean water or a indication of things not as clean as I thought. This was all before I started using the EcoBak.

Anyway... all gone now. Overall my tank just "seems" cleaner. I never thought it was dirty in the first place.

would love to get in on this product, but seems like it is never going to hit the market.....may have to go for the more expensive, but readily available alternative.

OK I have some positive results that i can attribute to the Eco-Bak. My skimate production has increased by at least 200% compared to B4 i added the EB and no other changes were made. All of a sudden it went nuts on around day 20 i believe is where I'm at. The cup gets cleaned every Sunday eve and normally around 1 1/2" of dark liquid per week is dumped. Well today (Thursday) which is 3 day's early it already has close to 3" in the cup. Same dark color and same nasty smelling gunk, plus all my corals are looking really great, SPS, LPS, Zoas and everything looks real crisp and clear. I think we have a definite Winner in this product. Thanks to Warner Marine On a side note my RODI is out of service and i have not done my weekly water change this week, I don't think 5 gal would make this difference in Skimate though...

After of months of pruning, plucking, And weeding I finally got rid of BROIPHS by using WMP that i started running about a month ago not one strand left

Would a phosban 150 work well for running 500ml of the pellets?

I'm not a big fan of those Phosban 150"s, The BRS large reactor is IMO a better choice. Or a PM reactor, But I'm not sure It would fit the whole amount. I guess It's just a matter of preference, Those 150's are kinda junky.

I agree that the PhosBan reactors aren't the highest quality reactors, but they do work. The newer ones with the screw-on top are a lot more convenient than the older ones. I don't think they hold 500 ml, though, more like 300-400, but you could check on that.

Great news. I get mine as soon as they ship.

I'm planning to use the pellets tomorrow. A couple questions:

1. how many liters of WM EcoBAK for 200g water volume?

2. I'm planning to use them inside an i~Aquatic zeovit reactor. Any benefit/drawbacks to cleaning the pellets by spinning them?

3. What flow rate, strong tumble, light tumble or non at all.

4. I'm planning to use a mesh sock on the output to catch any debris. Any drawback with bacteria or mulm? It will be on the pellets, correct?

5. For seeding the pellets I'm planning to use ZEObak and a few drops of ZEOfood.
