Wazzel's mostly SPS 120

Matt, Daniel, Mark - thanks for the birthday wishes for my wife. The mild winters are nice in the south, but in a few months that blue sky is going to bake us. Being close to the coast we have high humidity all the time.

Well. Got the first coat of poly on the stand today. Should get two more on it tomorrow. Ran out of time today. My son and I did some repair work to our patio cover then tared the roof to hopefully address the leaks that had developed. Just doing the stand. Will do the doors later since I do not need them to progress the project.

Yup, got all three coats of poly on the stand. Did the last two today, between cooking breakfast, fixing my lawnmower, cutting the grass, fixing two holes in a wall, smoking ribs and some other stuff. Been a busy day.

Day? More like a busy year for you Mark, and probably not the last one for a while...but you handle it all well. At least you are moving closer to your goal:celeb2:

It always is. The middle kid had their last indoor percussion performance on Friday. My oldest is just about ready to kick off the competitive dance season. I need to get the stand done before that starts or I will be stuck again unable to make any progress for many weeks. That is why I skipped the doors in can take them outside at any time, the stand is to much of a pain to drag out to do just one coat.

Made a little process this weekend. Got the inside painted, sealed all the pocket holes with silicone, siliconed the lower part for the stand, put the tank on the stand and set the sump tank in place.

Thanks. Not sure it is going to stay in that location. It is in the back of the house in an entry way. It is an out of the way place for me to finish the build. I am not moving fast so I did. It want it parked in the living room for another month or two empty.

I ordered the material for my light rack today. My pumps are in at the LFS just need to pick them up. Getting close to being done.

A little progress this week. Got my hydra light brackets machined. Off to anodizing on Monday. Still waiting on the 80/20 parts so I can assemble the light rack.

Been tossing around the idea of fragging down my larger colonies to around the size of my smaller ones so the tank can start with pieces all about the same size. It would give me all tennis ball sized pieces instead of tennis ball through cantaloupe sized.

Thoughts?

I say frag them down to similar sizes makes the take more visually pleasing and can fit more in there. At least that's what I did with my last upgrade and helped to offset some of the cost.

I am planning to do the same beginning of next year. I will likely cut down colonies and re-start with chunky frags, seems like a great idea to me. The tank is looking sweet, I love how patient you are, it will pan out for sure! When is the plan to get it wet? Will you be using fresh live rock or are you planning on using existing?

Thanks. Not sure on the wet date. I am doing some home clean up work to get our house ready to sell. If it looks like the house will move soon I will wait until after. I am just going to use the rock I have. My vision is for an open flat scap to make the most of the hydra operating envelope. And give the corals room to grow. The is not much work left baffles for the sump, plumbing, light rack and seal the doors. I could be wet in a week if I had all the parts in hand.

I got my light rack assembled tonight. Still waiting for my brackets to come back from the anodizer. It is not mounted yet. I just set it on the box to text fit.
