Wazzel's mostly SPS 120

Nice light rack. Where did you order the 80/20? I'm looking to do exactly that. Very nice build

Picked up my pumps and 1" (drain) bulkheads from the LFS today, got all remaining mounting and assembly hardware for the light rack, drilled the holes. Oops mounting bolts to short, dammit. Oh well, maybe tomorrow. I did get the light brackets mounted to the rack.

Looking great man, the tank is so darn sexy, the stand is also beautiful too. I love the craftmanship in each thing you have done so far with this tank. Your patience will most certainly pay off Mark! Great job so far, cannot wait to see it all setup!

Rack is on and 1 hydra test fit with machine screws. Will need to double nut for permanent installation. If I can not find black these will work just fine. Height is set for about 10 inches off the top of the tank. That is higher than what I have now (about 5.5 off water) and higher than what I had with the single unit (about 8.5 off water IIRC). I think this will help with color.

Wazzel, you might consider spray painting them before final mounting. I built a light rack for my Mitras and did just that. I used Tremclad for its durability, but I am sure any other would work. I drilled holes in a cardboard box, put the screws in them, and sprayed them.

That is really slick Mark- I love working with the 80/20 material!

Thanks guys.

Rockworm - did painting gunk up the threads? I was to put a nut on the back side of the channel to lock it in place.

Matt - this stuff is super easy to work with. I can see the end now and starting to get excited again. My kids finish school next week so I should have more weekend time to finish up. Need to check on a few things before I finish my sump design and get the baffles cut. Thinking about using filter socks this time around. I have never used them before. Because of my plan I need small diameter.

If you focus the spray on the top with a couple light sprays on the thread, you may be ok. There is some give in the threads but it may strip the paint when the nut is put on. The threads on the machine screws I used are all hidden inside metal and wood so I did not need painted threads.

Hey wazzel, when I had my hydra I went down to the hardware store and got some black machine bolts. They had a allen hex head, but worked great and were stealthy.

The black socket head cap screws in the length I need are hard to find with full threads. The store has 1.5 inch long but the threads do not go all the way to the head.

Finally started sealing the doors today. Got the first coat on the fronts. I am in safety training all week so chances are I will be home early everyday. Figured why not take care of the doors since I will have time.

Finally found door hinges I liked. Order on-line and received them on Saturday. It was dress rehearsal/picture time for my daughter that dances Saturday morning. Wife and I met some friends in New Orleans for a dinner cruse on Saturday. Sunday was the dance review for my daughter. Needless to say I only installed two hinges on one door, just to check the look and say I did something. Hopefully I can get all the doors hung during the week.

Tank is going to be put on hold for a few weeks. I just got home from a trip offshore and returned to a leaking upstairs shower. That required cutting a hole in the ceiling, a big hole. 65" x 18" to be exact. The sad part is there was no plumbing leak, even tho I heard a drip when testing the shower before opening up the ceiling. Looks like it is the shower itself leaking. Sooooo....... Now I need to reseal the shower and repair the ceiling. Repairing the ceiling will roll into painting the entire downstairs ceiling. I have a few water spots and seams that need to be repaired. Since I will be at it, why not do it all.

Incase you are wondering why I was offshore, I work in oil and gas construction.

While giving the shower enough time to get some use before repairing the ceiling I decided to install my doors. Got the front two installed, but ran out of time. Hopefully by the end of the week I can get the other two in place.
