Would you purchase a $4000 dollar fish?

Let's not forget that some people will pay several thousand dollars for a Koi. No special diving equipment needed for that one!

It's all relative:eek:

hundreds of thousands for some arowana. personally i'd buy a dragon moray before i'd buy any angelfish though.

(It's like when I saw the Z8 at the BMW dealership that was $50k off the normal price). [/B][/QUOTE]
Heck with the fish where can I find a Z8 50K off sticker??

I cant believe you guys are coming up with ways to dispose of it!!!!! I'd stuff it then somehow motorize it, dead or alive it's gonna be swimmig in my tank!

Thats hilarious, something that would be interesting to see

Someone a little while back posted a question about how the fish would live in a 2 ft tank when it was used to pressures over 200ft.

any thoughts on that? How do you acclimatize a fish that is used to practically no light and such pressures?

Hey all,

I don't know about the issue of light, but as far as pressure is concerned, fish collected from deep water have to have their swim bladders decompressed. Generally this is done with a small needle (hollow like a hypodermic) to vent the air as it expands on ascent.

As long as the fish is brought up slowly it'll be fine. The divers know this and are very aware of all these issues.

Never. It's a nice looking fish, but not worth $4000 to me. I might pay $100 if someone made the offer to me, and that's the truth. There are too many variables that could go wrong that would cause the fish to die.

Visitors would probably still like the $15 royal gramma better.

Saw them at Santa Monica BMW back in December...marked down from $200k to $150k...maybe you can get a deal on the one that I drooled/cried over. ;)

crazy crazy...it is a beautiful specimin...but i wouldn't pay that much unless i had TONS of money to throw away and was looking into VERY rare species.

that is wierd how just decompressing teh swim bladder and that sucker is fine in normal tanks....seems odd....like thier cells would be used to the pressure to and not handle normal (up here ;) ) pressure.

if it died i would have it stuffed or dipped in gold :D

there's so much else i could do with $4000...im scroungin for money for new tires for my car....all i need is maybe a grand....! i guess as long as im in college i wont have one of these fish in my tank.....

if i was so rich that 4000 dollars was literally pocket change, i would buy one in a second, hell, i would probably buy 10!

but until that day.....i will just look at pictures of them.

:D

If I had 4000 to spend on a friggin fish, I would probally be filthy rich and I would dive and get him myself:eek1:

yeh there was a post about that the other day, crazy isnt it! I have to say that I dont think the Hotumatua's Angelfish looks good enough to fit that price at least the peppermint looks uniqe. Speaking of uniqe fish I seen a black tang the other day. I love the way it looks. Different from all your normal bright colors.
