Would you purchase a $4000 dollar fish?

hehehehe Spend 4K on it then watch it develop a taste for your acro polyps :) Spend another 5 dollars constructing a blow gun to dart the bugger.. 4005.00 for a wall trophy... I think I'll hold off :)

I guess if you're a collector and you're into that sort of thing --it'd be worth it. I'd never pay it -- fish are too fragile. I'd never pay more than $65 for a fish I think. I spent like $60 for some bettas from Thailand got him here and he almost died from a fungal infection within a week. survived it was happy --then I did a water change and was acting sick again for a couple days-- fish are too delicate to be dropping that kind of loot -- I'd put it towards a 60in LCD TV and watch the nature channel man!!

i find it amusing that we all scoff at the idea of a 4000 dollar fish...when most of us probably have ten thousand dollar+ tanks that use hundreds of dollars of electricity every month:D

i guess there really are degrees of insanity;)

hundreds of dollars of electricity? $10,000 aquarium? i'd like to see that setup!

Is that true? I know there are some really big tanks out there, but a quick scan of the signatures attached to the people who posted in this thread includes only 4 tanks over 100 gallons. (One 240 gal and three 120 gal). I just hit the 4k mark on my 75 gal system. I must be out of my leauge here.

Love to see some pics

Some day! My tank's not worth bragging about yet. Too little experience and not enough time. Most of my money is in equipment.

Tank
Chiller
MH lights
Tunz Turbo Stream pumps
controllers
pumps
Skimmer
RODI unit
and..... a little money in dead livestock:(
and the 130lbs live rock

Please don't make me list anymore:worried:

Actually my main tank is only 210g, but everthing in the system with prop tank, sump, and fuge is 450g and I have way more than 10K in my setup.

With 3375 watts of halide lighthing, dozens of pumps, heaters, two protein skimmers, etc. my electric usage meter should spin off the house soon.

But 4K for one fish, no way, I would rather get a supercharger.

Beautiful fish, but I'm not sure it's worth $4K. I guess it would be worth whatever someone was willing to pay for it though.

I remember when I first saw a pic of this fish, I was astonished at how beautiful it was. I would definitely love to own one in the future. To me, it's worth the price because it is so exotic. To each, his own I suppose.

No thinking more about it....I think I would rather have my current set-up, than a single $4000 fish.

Also, I could do a lot of upgrades with half that amount.

Or, how about a plumbing a seperate 100 gallon species trank for a big moray eel. Now that would be cool (and under $1500)

Hey goofball310,

What is the name of the LFS in Socal that offered to order them if 20 people were to order a fish? I got the name, Viktor, but what is the LFS's name and address? Just curious, cause in several years when I set up the proper aquarium, I'm ordering one,

Harry

I recently saw a Japanese website that had them for $1200 With next flight overnight shipping ($400) Your still under $2000, I am looking for the website now, The only problem is crossing your fingers it doesnt get stuck in customs. I think that if you have it shipped to a wholeseller it wont be a problem, or maybe they have a deal with customs to get around it. But it said on the website overnight shipping to major cities with international airports in the US. I am guessing you have to pick it up at the airport.
