SPEEDGLUE REVIEW
SPEEDGLUE REVIEW
18 April, 2008 (Friday)
Finally got some time to do the review for speedglue.
As promise last week, for those who are interested….
Speedglue Powder â€"œ picture taken without flash:
I follow the instruction and place one-heaped tablespoon of powder and mix with 5 ml of RO water…
Table spoon with powder â€"œ picture taken with flash:
5ml RO water:
After mixing for about 1-2 min, this is what you get….
The texture is quite rough, like a cement mix â€"œ not like a smooth paste of an epoxy. It act more like a quick drying cement and quite easy to apply should you wish to bond rocks or frags to SPS plugs out of water.
I would recommend to first place the powder into a container and then to slowly place the water and keep mixing until you get a thick paste. If it’s still too soft, then add more powder…before using, best to have ready a disposable plastic cup and a wooden or plastic stick to mix it…. I used a wooden Popsicle stick, which works great….but I think you can buy those sticks from somewhere or alternatively start eating lot’s of ice cream on sticks. Another disadvantage it will be a waste if you only want to glue 1 piece of frag unless you have master to mix it with less powder and water
I tried using it to bond 2 pieces of dry rocks together to see how fast it dries… Took about 3-4 hours to dry and once dried, it’s like cement. Good thing is the color is dark grey (like a raw cement color) and not so noticeable on reef rocks :artist:
Next I try bonding one of my SPS frag and place it in my tank.â€"œ took about a good 5 - 6 hours to bond underwater…
Personally, IMHO, would recommended this for those who wish to build their aquascape and also to bond frags onto frag base out of water. For gluing frags underwater, I will still stick to my D&D epoxy….. so I guess I have to stock up on these 2 items…. :lol2:
Upcoming next…
