47G SPS...Revamp

Sahin,
I think you will do well with the all LED, it may take a bit of time, but once you get the spectrum intensity dialed in, I am sure you will have great success. I will always be a t5 fan, bit expensive, but I like to focus my efforts elsewhere as far as tinkering goes :) Which type of LED and what brand are you leaning towards? Hope all is well buddy!

Sahin, I really love to see the outcome of the LED on your corals. As you said before, much of the success was due to good water parameters.

I bet Biggles is going to sabotage your LED experiments. Just send a few of your armed spies, guarding your tank 24/7. Just a suggestion, but don't start a war though.:uzi:

Thats right I'm going 100% LED!!!

Biggles: thanks mate. I knew I could count on you to be the first to doubt LED's going over my tank. My brown acros cannot get any worse eh?

This is going to be interesting. Watch this space...

He just saw your post earlier. My LFS uses 100% Ecotech Radions - at one time they were the largest Ecotech installation in the world. Good luck with that.

Sahin going all LED! I look forward to seeing your progress. I have been all LEDs since I started in 2011 (AI Sol Blues). I am setting up a frag tank in a week that will be lit by the Orphek Atlantik V.3

Sahin I will be very interested to see what happens here. As you know I run all radions, and I am happy with them. But, I have always had that thought in the back of my mind about what would it be like all t5 as most of my favorite tanks all run t5. I can't wait to see what happens.

Thanks buddy. 2xRadion Gen2 Pro and 1xRadion Gen3 Pro will be going over the tank.

Me too buddy. I know MH and T5 work; I just want to see for myself that LED's do work too. As far as I am concerned, LED's like the Radion Pro and Hydra52's are more or less full spectrum. We will see what happens. :)

How are the SPS colours under the Radions? Any idea if Radion Pro's are used or they are standard Gens?

Thanks buddy. I dont think the results will be all that bad.

Hey buddy, I've been impressed with your SPS colours for some time now.

I know one thing for sure: the light coverage wont be as good as my Pacsun or ATI units; and that is why I am putting 3 units over the tank.

The other reason for this "test" is because my wife has given the go ahead for a tank upgrade as soon as we move into a bigger place. This test will determine what lighting goes over my next tank.

The majority of the store uses standard Radions with TIR lens upgrades, but the display tank uses four Pros. This is his display tank:

His colors have slowly faded in the tank to be honest. The corals in the shop fade out a lot also if they stay around for more than a few weeks and they always color up significantly after going under the T5s. This owner really know his stuff also, and his water quality is very good.

Thanks for the info. I guess I will see it for myself if the coral colours fade. :fun5::fun5::fun5:

Bulent you are supposed to offer words of encouragement; not follow Biggles. Biggles is a bad influence around here. :lolspin:

I guess this is going to be quite interesting. It appears a few of you have little or no faith in LED's. :strooper:

We shall see. :hmm2:

I have no doubt your corals will continue to look spectacular under your capable care.

Good luck with your new experiment.

Don't you let those guys put you off going all LED buddy, i for one am looking forward to this with great anticipation. I think it's going to be entertaining whatever the outcome so i say go for it.

Sahin, being the sps addict and a macro master that you are, I know how you look at your sps from the top down..
I am very curious to know your opinions about subtle colour changes and production (or lack thereof) that the LEDs produce in your corals.
Very curious, indeed!
This will be very interesting!!

When viewing from the front the colors will fade, from the top colors can look quite nice. In my experience anyway. The T5 light bounce is priceless.

Change of lighting will be intersting to see, water parameters, flow , feeding etc remain as is. It'll give some weight to the water quality or lighting debate, nice one Sahin.

I was joking in my earlier post Bulent. But yes, I sure do hope the corals will look as good under the Radions as they do under the PacSun T5/LED hybrid.

Well in my opinion and experience, i see you changing lights in a couple of months!!

Can you please elaborate more? You mention your own experience; which brand of LED did you use?

Haha. I want to see for myself what 100% LED's can do mate. If my acros all brown out then so be it. At least I will know for myself.

:lolspin::lolspin::lolspin::lolspin:
Almost fell from the couch guys:lolspin:

Good luck with the change sahin.Hope everything will go well buddy!
Are you planning on keeping the ati or you'll sell it?
Hey buddy I'm keeping the ATI and the Pacsun hybrids. If this test turns out it wasnt such a good idea, these units will be going over my upgrade most likely.

It will be interesting for me too mate. I'll keep everyone updated.

This has always been my concern as well. However, I feel I can reduce some level of the direct nature of LED's by having 3 units over my tank, run the LED's 12 inches above water line and run them high intensity.

Change of lighting will be intersting to see, water parameters, flow , feeding etc remain as is. It'll give some weight to the water quality or lighting debate, nice one Sahin.

Thanks buddy. I already took out my cheato bed a few weeks ago as the cheato wasnt doing much and I needed to space for growing frags.

So no changes once the LED's go over the tank. I need this to be a good test. I'm betting on water quality and nutrition to be far more important than light. ;)
