Looks great Sahin

My tank has been featured on Canreef.com as Tank of the Quarter for Spring 2016. It was quite a surprise for me though as there are way nicer tanks on the Canreef forum. :uhoh3:

So these posts are just about a massive photo dump. But lets start off with my new light:

Giesseman Spectra: 400w Radium 20K with ATI T5 and LED's combining the best of all 3 technologies. I've modded the spectra by pulling out the Giesemann T5 reflectors, inserting ATI reflectors, a T5 ballast from an ATI unit as well as incorporating fan cooling. The 400w Radium is run off a Lumatek E-Ballast which runs the Radium just slightly above specification.

I've had issues with nutrients over the past few months...The tank doesnt register excess PO4 or NO3, but there is some algae on the rocks (not too much though) and the corals experienced some browning or darkening. My friend Rui thought maybe my skimmer isnt upto the job.

Having looked at the system and the fish load I began to keep a close eye on the skimmer and did notice a reduction in skimmate production. Taking apart the Bubble Magus NAc skimmer showed that the meshwheel wasnt in the best of condition anymore.

BUT, I also discovered that the outer cable on the pump had split! I therefore ordered a Deltec 1351 skimmer. I found it to be a bit finicky so I returned it and got a Deltec 1456 with the DC pump. The new skimmer is running very well.

Over the next few months I plan to reduce the organics/nutrients a little more and hope that with the new skimmer and lights my corals will look better. Most look alright, but as always there are improvements to be made.

Wholly crap Sahin great job man.. Tank looks stellar and congrats on tank of the quarter. I've been gone for a while and your tank has really came to be a piece of art.. I'll be stealing some coral shots for screen saver/motivation =)..

Congrats on the feature and based on the photos it's very well deserved! I'm having a very similar nutrient issue as you and am also looking towards a new skimmer for help. Keep us posted on the progress! Keep the pics coming!

Incredible amount of light approx. 450 watts going on a 200 liters display tank.
If you can't grown and colour them sps corals - nothing else will.

Hey! Congrats on the feature, sahin!
Nice job.
The tank is looking spectacular.
Now, that was a photo dump to write home about!!!
How long have you had the blue and orange wrasse? Forget it's name.. Beautiful.
