a simple sps tank

Bump!!!! How is the new fishy doing? Some new pics? Any sneaky Bello acts lately?
Busted by sneaky police
BB is doing great sahin and i did add an acanthops angel.
Achilles beat the s#$$ out of him the first day.
At one point i thought he killed him but the little devil got in a cave and got away from his rage
On the third day BB left him alone and the angel started attacking quasimodo!!!
I took my net to take him out(and only god knows where next:headwalls:) but i couldn't catch him.
On the 4rth day,to my surprise quasimodo attacked him soooo much that now i was worried about the liitle devil
On the 5th day everything was ok and nobody attacked no one.
In fact the two of them swim side by side and only during feeding quasimodo
chases a bit the angel(something i really enjoy because of what he did to him on the 3rd day:) )

+1!! Love Achillies such an awesome fish

Now your putting thoughts in my head glaukos LOL
:D
I'm really happy for that scott buddy.
Your pair of mystery haunts my nights and my thoughts before i go to bed:beachbum:
In fact for some weeks now i'm trying to decide whether i'll add another mystery or a trio of larytail anthias.
Can you feel me?
Glad you love achilles too buddy.....i adore them:inlove:

I wouldn't mind seeing more of Quasimodo and the crew, either
Love you so much for remembering quasimodo's name buddy:beer:
In the next few days i have my scheduled WC so i will take lots of pics.
No big changes though.
Still trying to get some good colors:hmm2:

Here is a pic of BB.He is almost 100% clear and his orange parts above the teardrop started to appear

That makes me so happy to see him coloring up!

I'm going to keep an eye on you sneaky reefers from now on...:headwally:
Look forward to pics of the new angel. Arent you worried about it munching on your acros?

Looks like I have to go Acro shopping next week...cant seem to keep up with you guys with your big tanks and numerous sneaky fish and coral purchases...:spin1:

BB looks great Mike

Recently, a number of people that I know locally, have purchased Achilles Tangs, and have failed miserably. Perhaps, you could share your tips for them, because BB looks incredibly healthy .

Good luck with the Acanthops, they're the most feisty angels I've ever kept! Unfortunately, mine decided to nibble a bit on the SPS, not a lot though, no real damage. However, he was relocated. Hopefully yours is better behaved . If not, do the usual, buy a large stick, and whack him if he nips. Guaranteed to work 0% of the time

Hi Mike, I've always wanted an achillies but my goldrim as close as I'm going to get now unfortunately mate.
From what I've been told with mystery wrasse is they have to be caught as an actual pair, correct me if I'm wrong because it often happens lol
As for the anthias I'm a big fan, the colours they bring to a reef is just awesome I think! I really don't think you can go wrong there buddy, I went down the fancy/hard to keep anthias track and spent a lot of money with very little success

Tank is looking great Mike, really pleased for you that the fish are picking up. :) BB looks awesome, i've only kept purple and yellows but friends have kept the harder ones like yours and i know how pretty they are in real life - worth the effort imo

Achilles Tang are gorgeous fish, wish only i could maintain one. Love the rock work u had on ur tank.

Sneaky reef war mode:on

Tomorrow is my WC day,so i'll take some more of my tragic pics:uhoh3:
I'm a little worried but until now he is a model citizen.I hope it stays this way.
I feed at least 6-7 times so i hope his belly will be full enough to keep him away
Like bello said,i saw him nip only one acro all of these weeks but he didn't make any real damage.I checked the spot he hit and saw no marks or damage.
Time will tell!

Can't wait to see your acro shopping sneaky loots sahin:beer:

Thanks bello buddy:beer:
This is my favorite phase in BB,where colors are showing and the teardrop grows:inlove:

I'm so sorry for these guys.It sucks to lose a fish
I'm no expert on AT but i'll share some key points(from my humble experience and opinion) in the achilles prime just in case i can be of some really small help:thumbsup:

Thank you for wishing me luck,i will need it:D
You are sooo right about him being feisty!I could believe my eyes when i saw him attacking with such speed quasimodo!
Really glad quasimodo stood up for himself and has him under control now:o

Lol for the large stick and the whack!lol

Thank you again buddy

I'm sure you will get one scott buddy!
You have one of the best tanks one could swim in:beer:
Now with the gold rim things will be really risky, you are so right.

I don't want to get a lot of them.
Only a trio of larytail and that will be the end of my stocklist.
I was ready to buy them but one jumped out of the holding tank and i backed out.Want to add them all together.

So you think that if i add now another mystery i'll have problems?
Don't know either and haven't read anything about it yet:o

Glad that tang is doing better. Nice clean looking reef.
Thank you so much greg!
Glad you like it.
If one day i can make it look even 5% like yours,i'll be a happy man:beer:

Thank you so much biggles buddy, really appreciate it!!!:)
AT worth all the effort in the world:inlove:
Of course i like many other tangs but i wish i could afford to keep a 1.000 gallon tank so i could keep more of them:dance:
If only i could color up my sps too:sad2:

Thank you so much JN,it means a lot to me that you like it:thumbsup:
Really hope and wish, you will maintain one since you like them:beer:

Thanks again guys!

So did the WC but the pics i took were as usual...embarrassing to say the least:(

Cleaned the sump and all of the equipment that's in there(skimmer and return pump) and made it look like new.

I don't want to swear but i that's the last time i upload,so close to a crime,tragic pics.
Some of the ones that weren't so bad:wildone:

I really like your scape glaukos and i wish you luck with that Acanthops. I have had 2, both took a liking to my yellow poccilopora and my Acanthastreas so they had to go.

I agree with Bello that they are very feisty fish.

Nice update Mike :).

The acros look very healthy indeed . I really love the simplicity of your scape Mike, and your ability to resist throwing every possible coral in there :p. I would have gone nuts by now.

Where do you plan to place that Orange Monti colony, that's lying in the back? Can you take a picture of the tank from the side for me? I would like to see the spacing between the glass and rock :)

It looks like the sandbed is covered in coralline, is that the case?

I'm still loving the open water look of the tank, really makes me reconsider my rockwork

Thank you ormet buddy:beer:
Glad you like it and i wish one day my sps have the colors, yours do!
I wish he won't bother anything too, because i really like the little devil:o

Atm quasimodo is his daddy:bum:
But i'm sure he will give a very hard time to any fish i'll try to add from now on:worried:

Resisting is good for my pocket and the tank:lmao:
To be honest there are times i want to add something, mostly on the sand area but i want it to be something special, which i can't find:rolleyes:
On the rocks there is no more space for corals:hmm2:

You are in my mind buddy!
I'm debating for the last few days what to do with it.
I really like it but it has become too big, plus i think that removing it will make the aquascape look even more open.
There is absolutely no other place for it in the tank.
On the other hand i love it because it grew this big from a really small frag.
Will take a pic for you in the next few days:thumbsup:

Sandbed is a mix of CC and another type o CC too,but in really small size(can't remember as what type i bought it).
So what you see is indeed coraline algea on the bigger CC pieces.
Sand sifting starfish makes a good job,so that explains some white spots here and there.

Please don't change "a hair" in your tank bello!
It's already too perfect for changes buddy!

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! Looking nice and clean mate! Nice solid colours on the Acros. And your photography has improved much! :celeb1:

Since you are near pro with the photography, I am expecting LOTS more photos., especially with the top down ones. :lol2:

I was just wondering about the Orange monti placement options.... What if you made a thin narrow tall tower of rock (another island), and placed it just in front/joining the overflow box? It would need to be as tall as the height of the mp40 maybe? I dunno...just thinking :).

I can't think of any other option right now, because I really like your open look
