Good call...

The orange one was actually encounter STN at bottom when ref turf algae blooming in my tank, so I frag top section since then, it recovery well after I took care STN and red turf algae... see its leftover below... (Sorry for the ugly shape the way I glue them....haha)

The yellow one is about the same except I cut a few frags to friends and replace its position. I don't have a picture now since I am on-the-road, will find time take one.

Hey Shih87,

You mentioned you were a beta tester for what looks like the CoralVue KH Guardian Pro Alkalinity Controller, which I see is released now. How do you like it? Does it deliver? Please share the ins and outs that you learned to date. Do you recommend it?

Thanks,
Chris

I am still using the beta one and so far so good. In my 2 and half years user experience, I have challenged its reading many times when the value was way off than I expected, but I was wrong every single time after test with Hanna. Haha....

Coralvue is their US logistics and distributor I believe. The owner just released its new firmware to beta tester which has new feature set include comprehensive network setting, improved firmware upgrade tool, two decimal resolution and better accuracy, and an AIM. AIM should help KHG connect to any controller in today's market as the way I heard.

Two and a half years is a long time. What do you mean by the value was way off? Doesn't the guardian keep the value steady?

What's holding you back?

Instead of saying something hold me back rather this is a "choose" I take.

I have spent many times trying to convince KHG team spend time and effort on something else, but they decide to shoot for correction ;-)

Since I have Apex DoS and GHL Dose2.1, I rather do alkalinity correction part remotely but perceivably.....

Knowing exactly how much alkalinity fluctuated with a fix baking soda dosing volume is one best way I could know directly my coral growing rate turn up or down in a short period of time, so I can prevent bad thing happen ahead of time....

That makes sense.

Apparently they will be releasing another model of guardian that only monitors kh. it is supposed to be half the cost.

Thanks. I do know there is a monitor only version, but not sure about half price. Could be, just I don't know....

Ummmm. You needed a magazine to tell you this? Have you seen your dosing system. Congrats. You really are an inspiration.

Congrats on getting published! I read your article beginning to end and it shows your attention to detail very well. A really top knotch article for sure.

So you are an engineer? What kind? I'm an software developer at Microsoft, so engineer-ish I suppose.

You mentioned you had added kessil a700 leds but I don't see them for sale. Only thing close are ap700s. Another beta situation maybe? The mounting kit looks custom. Share more details when you have time.

Haha... Good point!!!

Sorry, it is Kessil AP700.

I was a software developer at Cisco when lived in Bay Area, but now more focus on people management after working in Taiwan.

I will find some detail later for you.

Cheers.

3D printer made overflow with 5mm thickness, open space 5mm, column thickness 1mm"¦ I like it a lot, hope it further reduce flow noise with my Herbie Overflow design

This is a nice looking weir that you made. Do you happen to still have the CAD file you used to create it and would you mind sharing it? I can reference it to create one that is similar for the refugium area of my sump. Thanks!

Sorry, it was made by one of my friend (PM background) using 3D printer with his CAD drawing. I don't have it. All I have is a CAD drawing on my tank to show him my idea in scale, and he made a much nicer one for me.

This friend, recently gave his 3D printer away to my other friend (a SW engineer) as a gift, and immediately my second friend made a similar overflow (see picture below) after 48 hours received the printer... So I assume it is not that complicated to draw and print (hahaha), but I really don't know since I do not own a 3D printer.
