A Smart? Aquarium in Taiwan...

Very nice Food Chute design, looks great. Slick looking.
You need a matching floating ring since I find food goes down overflow with auto feeders, without one.
Or maybe falling from that high, pellets break the water surface?

On the topic of Jumping Wrasse. I just learned first hand. It was lucky that wrasse jumped into my Overflow box the first time. So I put on a guard over overflow, and also added a Framed Mesh on top tank. Then it disappeared again few weeks later. The only opening was a 3" acrylic tube for feeding. Must have been a lucky jump thru, but no idea where it landed. Never ever found after searching high and low. I give up on wrasse.

Yes, from that high, pellets break water surface. Pretty happy about that!!!

Haha.... Rimless has no luck for wrasse...

This is a nice FTS. It's a different aquascape from TOTM.

Not just red. I love all the colours in there. Red looks fabulous yes. Also outstanding is pink acro with orange polyps and the pale blue one with just tiny spots of yellow. Were they in your system before or did you just become a better photographer?

It is same rock set, but up from coral grow too big and leave no open space for my sand bed, so I broke it to three, and only leave myself a small piece. A very nice SSC and birdnest die after my summer vocation last year thought.:headwally: The red birdnest on my tank today is a two inch frag I saved and regrow to this size.

I always believe I need more red and pink in tank, sign....

Shih87, do you run ozone or UV by chance?

You must be choosing not to reply. I think your answer is no to both but wanted to be sure.

Do you mean above question? Sorry, I overlook. Yes, please do let me know if I did not reply anything here. Sometimes overlook, I don't think there are anything I intend not to reply. Haha....

I did not use Ozone and UV since it against KZ, Af bacteria method, but I do use Ozone from time to time for my new water, but less and less since I don't see the point after for this tank, I upgrade my RO/DI to 3M, and it is much better than regular RO/DI.

Or you meant above? Maybe you can point which coral exactly from my previous posting, since I am a bit confuse which one you refer to... But, hey, yes, after in saltwater hobby many years and a few articles were published here and other maganzines, I do believe I become a better photographer, no doubt ;-)

I love this tank.

I noticed a couple pages ago you mentioned you used a hybrid kz/af method but I didn't see if you mentioned what products you used. I would love to know what you are doing!

Thank you for posting this.

Any reason you use Zeobak and Start vs NP Pro and Pro Bio?

To me, Pro Bio S is similar to Zeobak as bacteria each company made.
-NP Pro should work similar to Start3 as carbon source, but I did not dig deeper.

The main reason of staying KZ bacteria solution is my tank was a mature KZ tank with healthy KZ bacteria exist, I don't see reason to replace them by Af. I would like to collect at least 2~3 years user experience first. Plus my two friends who used KZ had tried a completed swap (include bacteria), and their feedbacks are not all positive (note that I would believe a complete Af tank swap to KZ may have similar issues). So, yes, maybe my next tank will start from Af Pro Bio S + -NP Pro.

I can see a new player easy to make trace element once standard production line ready. However, for bacteria, my understanding the quality of lab and production line maybe totally different story on factor spec and regulatory. So, I hold my change and plan to wait a couple more years.

Thanks.

Hope this help.

No particular reason, but since I run tank at KH = 7.5 dKH, and Af salt only provide around 6, while KZ salt 2016 move from 7.5 to 8.5, so I mix them to reach KH 7.5 for easy new water make. I also consider that dropping KH from pure KZ salt is difficult, so this way I can find a solution to use my leftover KZ salt instead of pile them in my garage for too long.

I enjoy everything about your tank and thread. So much information, such detailed organization to your tank set up and then the coral...what beautiful coral and the colors that you are able to achieve. It's beautiful. Plus, your avatar is so great. It makes me think about how we have to enjoy the beautiful world around us. Thank you for sharing and letting us into your tank

Good to know you like it. A tank with live rock and coral just make me feel connection to the ocean. That feel good.

Hi Joseph, I am not sure if ever asked but did you ever do a ICP test of the aquarium water?
I understand that you dose based on how the corals react and colours.
Just out of curiosity...

And more, you dose allt hose elements manually? Every day?

Sorry for late reply.

No, I haven't tried ICP, but will try once. No plan to go "no water change" way, however ;-)

Water change is a 5 minutes thing with my house design... so....

For most supplements, I do dose daily since I have 12 dosing heads to use.

There are some supplements require shaking before use, that I does either daily manually (e.g. Coral foods), or twice a week (e.g. KZ Snow, etc..), usually Monday and Thursday night .

Hope that help.

My friends heard my concern of Apex AFD limitation (no empty box detection, ugly enough on top of rimless open top tank), so they spend a weekend help me made one masterpiece!!!

So happy....

Thanks, my dear friends.
