DUDE...... I must be doing it all wrong LOL

WOW! This is exactly what I want. Very impressive!

Which part exactly you want? Hope I can help.

DUDE...... I must be doing it all wrong LOL

Don't worry. I have that feeling quite often either.

Double Wow!!

So that is what a Cyphastrea can look like.

Mine is growing, but just red.
It only is encrusting the rock.

34059396903_2f5edf6199_z.jpg

I've seen that in some of my other SPS corals. Just encrusting no upward growth.

Is that not enough light, or not enough circulation? Or something else?

It require middle light and middle currents from my experience. Too strong currents will grow to funny look.
Some say it require a bit dirty water, but it work well in my tank which POM/DOM, NO3/PO4 are quite low.

The whole setup! It's so well thought out and planned. I wish I had the space to create something similar.

I am lucky to do all this when purchase a new house. I can image it is hard to have everything the way we want in a house we live in already. Anyhow, let me know if anything I can help.

Just stunning colours!

Thanks, my friend. It did feel good when seeing poor performance coral turn to nice look.

My patience paid off...
One coral keep completely dark and no PE for 2.5 years, and now turn his color and PE back.

Very nice fts!
Nice to see your patience paid off. I have a few I've been waiting a couple years for. I hope they wake up like yours.

Hi Shih87,
your patience finally paid of and how!? What a wonderful colour this coral got.

With now the KH Guardian versions become more and more accessible, I have a question.
I understand that you have only the monitor version of the KH Guardian, correct?
Do you have this connected to the Apex to control the dosing automatically or is this only a check and do you manually adjust the ALK dose?

Honestly, I did not put much hope on it originally, but neither can remove it since it basing nicely on rock. So I think he win his position himself.

Hope to hear good news on yours soon.

Mine is a POC, but full control version. I choose NOT to use control function since I can remotely control my Apex doser.

The new AIM to link to Apex (or GHL) was my and one another friend's wish list when we tested on POC, and I am happy that Dr. Bridge finally get it done. So if someone ask me if I like this feature or not. Absolutely!!!
I did not test AIM myself and continue remotely check KHG reading every other day or two, and adjust my Apex DoS accordingly.
Reason to do so cause I found in a period of time, all coral may suddenly stop (or slow down) growing for a few days. I am still research why that happen and why it will fully recovery later silently. For this, I need check tank other parameters daily in that period of time. I would, however, encourage folks use AIM, since it is fantastic add-on for most of reefers.

So you fully rely on the AIM Alk measurement to do the necessary dosing adjustments.
Which makes me ask you if you see many Alk consumption changes in your tank?
Thank you for the insight.

If I understand correctly, AIM is a module help KHG link to Apex or GHL. I don't have AIM.

Yes, I fully rely on KHG for alkalinity dosing volume adjustment. KHG reading is trustworthy, I have no problem with my 2 years experience.

I do see alkalinity consumption change base on KHG reading (most are unexpected drop, which result higher KH since I dose fixed volume of backing soda solution daily). It usually happen when I add new supplements or sometime, I don't even know why.

Still research and try to figure out.

Hope that clarify.

Thank you Shih87.
That clarifies all.
It is great to see the reliability of the KH Guardian.
Still it is a big investment and many players now start to jump on the bus.
I run a calcium reactor and like to see the possibilities in the future to connect the Guardian to it via a controller.
We will see what comes.

Shih,

You really need to learn how to keep SPS. It's terrible. You don't have any brown in your tank. Stop with the box of crayola's and get some brown in there.

Your tank is an absolute inspiration, as always. Great job!!!

Hello,

I've enjoyed your thread for a long time :) Inspirational and enlightening!

Since your PO4 and NO3 are at very low levels, I'm interested in the various additives (ZEOvit and AF) that you currently dose. In particular

FWS, Coral booster, coral vitaliser, amino acid and others that you are using.

Many thanks!

I haven't used Calcium reactor for a while. My last one is Schuran Jetstream 1, great product, silent and reliable, but no remote control function to adjust on-the-fly. Does latest calcium reactor provide some way of remote control? Maybe control the CO2 gage? I know there is product claim CO2 control, but it looks like toy to me, I am not sure I trust it.

Haha. There are some brown coral colonies still, which wait for me to wake them up ;-)

For most of supplement, I use exactly amount as suggested on the label, but usually from 1/4 amount to start with to avoid fluctuation. For food (Af ABEV and KZ CV), I dose 150 % ~200% of suggested amount.

System: KZ Bak + KZ Start3
Food: KZ CV + Af ABEV + Fish Poo
Major Elements: Homemade baking soda, CaCl2, MgCl2, KCl2
Trace Elements: Af Component abc, Af Iron, Af Strumtium, Af Fluorine, Af Iodim
Color improvement: KZ B-Balance, KZ Booster, KZ Xtra
Cure and water care: KZ FWS, KZ A-balance, KZ SPG, KZ Spong power
Salt: Af Reef Salt + Af RMS (Reef Minereal Salt)
Filter: KZ Zeolite and Brightwell Carbon

Hope above help.

Cheers,

Two Red Dragon main pumps, one is 2.5 years old, another is 1.5 years no maintenance at all since fire them up. Consider coming summer vocation, took both out and clean.

What a mess on power cord box. Got to re-arrange all power cords behind scene !@#$&@#^%

I do not think there is a remote controller for the calcium reactors at the moment.
DaStaCo has an easy controller and is what I am using. But small adjustments still have to be done by manually turning the button.
As now there is Alk measurement with remote control information, than a remote controlled calcium reactor would be the future thing to have.
Or even better, KH Guardian controlling the reactor!

Lol. What you do not see, does not hurt. Cables are meant to be a mess.
