No experience but I was thinking the same thing. I figure I'll raise my fixture 4-5 inches and then gradually lower it back down to 7" just to be safe.

BTW: I like your avatar, it's an extremely fine asset to the community :D

Looks good! I just ordered 2 250's for my tank. They will be here tomorrow. I have been running ushio's for the last year will great results. I hope the reeflux's are as bright with more blue compared to the ushios.

The reeflux won't be as bright as the ushio. Check Par measurements on Sanjay Joshis page?

Just to clarify... it depends on the ballast. On a standard mag and HQI ballast the CV has markedly lower PPFD than the Ushio. However the CV tops Ushios on electronic ballasts. ;)

Well here is my tank with the 250 watt Reeflux bulbs. I wonder how much they will change when they burn in. And by the way, I am running ice cap ballasts. The par is 86 ppfd for the reeflux and 85 for the ushios running on the ice cap.

Looking Good~~~

Is it pic of Reeflux+T5 or Reeflux only?

Thanks..~!!!

It's both. The blue corals in my tank really look nice. The reeflux really highlights them.:)

Got mine in  I decided to hook up my other 96w PC actinic and it looks great. Remember I switched from Hamilton 14k's w/ [1] 96w PC actinic, so I'm used to a little bluer color. The CV's really do make blues pop! I'm a little disappointed how the warmer color spectrum washes out pinks and orange slightly [ie. Ricordea]. Guess you have to pick your poison... my blue tips are stunning :) I'll take some pics and post tomorrow.

Overall: I'm not a 10k guy, but I wanted more PAR for growth and color... Anybody have any experience running ultra actinics [7100k blue] with or instead of 03 true actinics? Do they deliver more powerful blue spectrum light than the 03's?

i just ordered my bulb drop shipped from CV, cant wait till it arrives, my suppliments are going to be Uri super atinic dual 75 watters. cant wait to see how this turns out for my 20 gallon, i hope it looks good and gives me good SPS growth

I think the VHO actinics with this bulb will look fantastic ;)

Here's the CVreeflux 250w SE 10K's. One by themselves, the other is with 192w PC actinic 03. Sorry for the poor camera and daytime reflections ;) edit: forgot to add... bulbs are 10"- 11" off water right now.

Nice looking tank.
It is hard for me to tell the difference between the two shots. Looks good regardless!!

How does this tort look under the reeflux bulb?

With the hood so high the actinics are like 14" up so the difference isn't too pronounced. Should be more noticeable as I drop it.

Tort looks phenomenal  Is it Oregon?

Here's an absolutely terrible topdown of a robusta... :( but it shows the bright sky blue I could hardly see with the Hamilton 14K's ;)
