Anyone tried the Coralvue Reeflux 10k bulbs?

Been running the 250W SE 10kK Reeflux in an LA3 Mini driven by an ARO electronic ballast for about two months now, maybe a little more. Prior to that I ran 250W DE 14kK Giesemann in a ROIII driven by a SLS HQI ballast. Between the change in bulbs and the change in reflectors I was floored!

Now that they're burned in, the bulbs are a little less blue but my coloration continues to improve. I can't wait to ditch the redbugs and see how everything improves....

Anyway, here are a few shots from a couple of weeks back. Most are true to color.

Love the second pic, the reflector makes it look like you have three bulbs over your tank.

The Lumenarc reflectors are the best thing to happen to reef lighting. The difference between the ROIII and the LA3 Mini was unbelievable! I wholeheartedly recommend that any who has the means should get one (or two or three..)!

PGS also worked with me to sell the whole kit - bulb, ballast and reflector. It was a little pricey but they cut it was one stop shopping and I didn't have to do any wiring, etc. Everything was very professional.

EdWadd:

Pacific Garden Supply. They bought Diamond, the original manufacturer of the Lumenarc. Their website is www.pacificgardensupply.com - don't be scared to haggle with their sales folks! They had jacked up prices for the ARO but Dan, the guy I spoke with, really wanted to make the sale so he dropped down to $115 I think? You can get them for like $10 less online - $115 was what I was going to spend on an IC ballast so he matched it and I was ok with that. They didn't have prices on the CV bulbs so I got to set it, that was pretty cool.

I opted to have them wire everything up and put it in an enclosure (a $30 fee I think). I told them how much I was willing to spend and they worked with me to make it happen - they completely ate it on my 2-day shipping. It was a little pricey for the whole kit but it was one-stop shopping and no wiring was required on my part.

There is no comparison. Now on my 20L the LA3 Mini is spilling light like crazy, but on my next system (36" x 24" x 18" I think...) it will be perfect. However, it does get much better coverage across the tank than the ROIII did - more even on the outer edges of the tank and MUCH brighter all round.

You can mount them anywhere you please. They have two eye bolts (one in the center of the canopy, one fits into part of the mogul base) so as long as you could drill two hooks you'd be golden. The dims on the reflector are 14.5" x 14.5" x 7" (IIRC) plus the bracket. If your tank is 18"+ in width you should be able to fit them in there with room to spare.

How do you guys think these bulbs would work out for me on standard pfo ballasts? Right now we're running 250w 10k XM's but they seem to be a little too overpowering.
