I may try the XM10k's next on my Reef Fanatic e-ballast, according to Sanjay's site they are a 14-15k in color with a good par output of 96.

But then again he does rate the Reeflux 10k SE on a Reef Fanatic e-ballast (250w) a 12.4k in color with a output in the 90's.

want2reef- Sorry for not responding to your PM yet... I havn't ordered the 12k's yet. I may see if I can get him to switch them out since I'm not a real big fan of pink.

You'll have to post some pictures. Heck I may go back to the Radiums.

I'll snap some pics of the 10k and 12k side by side for you when I get them. I just wish we knew the par of the 12ks!

I can get a lumen and lux meter for pretty cheap, may be a worthwile investment in checking that out.

Now that you mention it my local club has a par meter. I should see if I can grab it.

I don't know about you but I am really excited about the 250w 14k Iwasaki bulbs come out later this year. My 175w are pushing par close to our 250w bulbs, but they do measure out more inline with most 10k bulbs.

Most definately.

Once I move into my new place I think I'm just going to go with 400 watters. My buddy has a 280 and runs 3 1000w halides with Lumenarc III's and they are bright as heck. Runs the 1000w 20k Radium on a Sunlight Supply HQI ballast, they look amazing. The growth and colors in his SPS are literally amazing. I stuck my ORA Blue Tort frag in his prop system that is 3'x3'x20" with 1 1000w halide (SLS HQI balllast and Lumenarc 3) and it went from being blue to being almost dark purple with fluroscent blue tips and bright neon green polyps... Now its under pink light so I'm sure it'll brown out.

I may go back to Radiums but I'll definately try the new Iwaski 14k's just due to the fact that I don't think Iwaski would put out a inconsistent product. After seeing the 174w 14k pics I'm excited :)

Wow you guys and your high wattage bulbs. I run 3x250 in my 280 and anything over 6 hours the corals lighten up and bleach!
I am running the 10ks 3 hours per day, up from 2

If you didn't buy the bulbs directly from David at Coralvue, can you get replacements from David?
I bought mine from reeftanksupply.com.

I bought mine from reeftanksupply.com.

I got mine from custom aquatic. no problem.

I got mine from reeftanksupply.com also. I'll have to shoot a note over to David and see if I get some bad ones.

My replacement bulb came in and looks great. Crisp white and no dim pink. I am sending the bad bulb back as the retailer I got them from has good customer service. Both sides of my tank appear even now and no pink. If it stays this way, I will be very happy. It sounds like Coralvue has some issues with consistancy that I hope they can work out before it is time to replace these guys again.

Mine were VERY crisp white with a hint of blue for the first few days then the pink started coming through so keep an eye on it and let us know how it goes.

I decided to stop using the Reeflux bulbs and go back to the Radiums, I like their color much much more, even on an e-ballast (originally I was running them on an HQI ballast).

BTW its hard to take a good picture of a Radium even with an HQI ballast, its always looks washed out blue just due to the spectrum.

My reeflux died yesterday after about 2 months doh! but they vendor on ebay is going to replace it. So it is cool.
