Build Thread!!: Going from standard 120G to custom 200G

Will work on new tank plumbing this week. Hope to have it done by long weekend.

No new cycle. I have enough live rock to handle the move. Sand will be 1" layer of new sand with a few cups of old.

Hope to make transfer of all live stuff over the weekend.

Eddie,

What sand are you using? I was told to buy whatever sand I liked from home depot and then cycle it myself. Dont know if I want to do this.......

Know nothing about HD sand. I am using 1" layer of Caribbean. Considered bare bottom but will put some just for aesthetics.

My version of Herbie Overflow.

Return plumbing. Out of pump at 1.5", reduced to 1", then brought up and reduced at elbow to 3/4" for lock line outputs.

That 3/4" ballvalve out of pump will be used to plumb reactors with CPVC, and the big ballvalve out of sump will be used to connect to water change system. That plumbing and pics to follow.

Awesome! Question, I see you used some schedule 80 as well as schedule 40 valves. I've read that the Sch 80 ones are much better in terms of reliability and longevity (don't get stuch after a year of use). Is there a reasone you chose some in one situation and some int he other? I only ask because I'm ordering my plumbing from BRS this weekend. I was going to get a lot of gate valves, but wondering if it will be overkill. Thanks, and looking awesome!

Oh, one other question, are those magnets or pressure clips for the skin of the stand. Any close-ups of that detail?

I agree the big valves are better. Most of those big valves where part of the plumbing when I bought the tank but I replaced a few that where leaking. I bought them from an online plumbing place. The smaller valves I bought as I started plumbing since it was more convinient to get from Lowes and HD.

The skin for this tank is basically just doors. They are hinged to the alluminum stand. Ill try to take pics later.

I plan on moving all live stuff over next few days. Those that are asking about cycling. No cycling necessary I have plenty of mature live rock in old tank and sump to handle the load. I will monitor for a mini cycle and ready for any necessary water changes.
