+1 on the feeding port, I recently bought a great autofeeder http://www.super-feed.com/
by far the best one I've ever used
When I upgrade I'm going to have a feeding port on each side of the tank and 2 of those autofeeders running. I want 2 so I can reduce possibility of aggression in my tank. My queen angel can be a real bully when it is feeding time...

Oh man...i forgot that I even started a thread on this already...

I will update the progress today.

The basement is almost done...pictures to come

If you haven't purchased your tank yet, why not consider the best of both worlds - a hybrid? To my knowledge, they are only made by one company - AGE in Garland, TX.

Here is a link to a 600G acrylic/glass/PVC hybrid tank with Starphire front glass:

AGE is Awesome!

Oh, And i have also been waiting patiently for an update Chris... :)

the reason why i ask is because im also in the market for a 10 footer...thanks

Finally an update:

Well after a TON of work in the basement and getting all the dust to clear, I decided to move this beast from the garage to its final resting place on Friday.

I lifted the tank and placed it on stilts at different hights prior to my crew of 5 coming over to move it into the tank slot in the wall. It took a total of 5 people to lift it the additional 12" and push it into place. Dave, my trim carpenter, will give you an idea of how high the tank is in the wall...

Unfortunately, my pink insulation pad was pushed back during the move, but that is easily fixed by some lifting and a little movement later this week.

Plumbing for this beast will start very soon!

The tank is from T E N E C O R. I went with an all acrylic due to the weight and location.

I also had both sides and the entire back covered with 1/4" cobalt blue acrylic.

I will get more pictures tonight once the door trim and doors are up. Ill give everyone a look at the fish room...

Thanks for reminding me of this Austin. I am in the process of plumbing the tank this week. I drilled the 6 holes in the glass for the 1.5" bulkheads and am waiting for them to be shipped from Premium Aquatics.

I will be building the sump and refugium in the meantime.

Pictures to come...

Here is a list of the equipment as it stands now:

Lights: (2) 48" 8x54w Tek T5
Lights: (4) Super Actinic VHO
Return Pump: Reeflo Blackfin 6000 pump
Skimmer: MRC MR6R
Skimmer Feed: Mag 18
Skimmer Recirc Pump: Reeflo Barracuda
Sump: 125g
Refugium: 125g
500#'s of live rock
500#s of fine argonite

Dual 55g QT tanks with 30g sump

175g Fresh water vat
135g saltwater mixer

Nice Setup Chris!!!

Why are you using MRC skimmer? Not knocking them, just curious when it requires suck a large energy sucking pump! Not to mention the heat it puts int hte tank!

Also, will you be running skimmers on the QT tanks?

I got an unreal deal on the brand new MRC. It cost me $600 and retails for over $1200. I know the power consumption of one of these, but IMO a double beckett with a 4300gph recirc will easily handle my bioload. I also have a brand new AquaC EV2000 that I was going to put in line with the MRC, but have since reconsidered. I actually am not worried about the heat because it will have to travel 12'+ brefore it hits the return pump and then travel another 12-20 ft.

If I see any issues arrising from the skimmer I will purchase the BK400 which I was in the process of ordering prior to getting the MRC.

Nice setup Chris! Have you used a blackfin in the past?

I have not used a Blackfin...I see you have the 1800, how do you like it? I was going to get a hammerhead (and still might)

Oh! that does make sense!!!

So your equipment is gonna be a ways away??? Is there a fish room behind the tank?

Also, just incase you do decide to go BK, I remember reading that the 400 didnt' perform as well as teh 300. Unless you get a 400 w/ dual pumps. The single pump just couldnt' meet the demands of such a beast!!! I only say that becasue i was looking into it at one time!

I cant wait to see the updated pictures!

I don't like it at all and will be replacing it this summer I hope. I have had it replaced 3 times and have gone though 2 seals in months. Need to replace the seal again, so this will be the 3rd. The blackfin, well at least in my experience, aren't made to the same quality as other sequence pumps :(.
