confused!

I've loved PA for many many years, but my last 2 orders have come in completely wrong and I'm confused.

First on my normal mogal socket bulb order, I received duel end bulbs. PA was great tho and we did a quick swap, so no biggie.

This time I ordered my RO/DI filters like I always do, under the SpectraPure Spectra Cartriges tab and they sent me a Matrikx filter instead. Its not a huge deal I guess. But the Matrikx Chloroine Guzzler (01-250-125-975) is 2 micron filtration and runs about 11 bucks (or I could get a 3 pack for $19).

Matrikx product info link here

And the SpectraPure filter that I actually ordered was a .5 micron and runs $18 bucks from SpectraPure's own website.

SpectraPure Carbon Block info here

I haven't gotten the 3 sediment filters yet, but I'm hoping they are Spectra when they come in. Matrikx may be a great filter and I just don't know any better. I'm gonna install it and check it out. I still love PA, I just wish the shipping department would take more care in checking what they send out.

SP before the name means SpectraPure!

Hi,

This should be correct filter you are looking for, the half micron carbon. We actually purchase these direct from the manufacturer, just like Spectrapure, however Spectrapure pulls the sticker off and puts their own label on. If you could, please check the first line on that sticker of that filter you have there under where it says "The Chlorine Guzzler" and it should read ".6 um Nominal Filtration". I believe the one that you have linked to on that website is actually a 2 um Nominal Filtration carbon block. I am attaching a picture of what you should have received, please let me know if yours looks different and we'll most certainly get it replaced for you.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Hey Jeremy. =)

Yep thats exactly what it looks like. Its just so odd that the part number printed at the top also corresponds to this filter:

01-250-125-975 +1
(Matrik KX) 01250125975 MATRIKX 1, The Chlorine Guzzler, 2-1/2'' x 10'', 2 Micron

2 Micron Filtration
High Chemical Adsorptive Capacity
High Adsorptive Efficiency
High VOC Reduction
Two-Layer, In-Depth Prefiltration

SpectraPure really uses the same filters and puts there own label on it? I have no idea what to say about that. =p No wonder I'm confused! heh!

Thanks for taking the time to post the pic. =)

No problem! It's actually not uncommon at all to have products in this industry relabelled, especially ro/di components and accessories. I was actually confused once I went to that link as well since they both had the same item number, but then the other said 2 um filtration, vs the .6 um with this one.

Thanks,
Jeremy

I been buying pretty much all my aquarium supplies from PA and so far there techsupport has been very helpful to me. They got my A++ vote.

HI,

I wanted to chime in too about the shipping mistakes. We have had some problems last couple months. We have a couple new shipping guys helping us out and had some learning curve problems. Things seem to be back up to speed now though and soon we'll have a scanning system to help prevent mistakes.

On your cartridge, we are very sorry if you felt mislead. We buy the .5 sediment direct from spectrapure, but we buy all the others direct from the manufactures. I choose Matrix because it was high quality and it's USA made. I've found some lower priced .5 carbons, but the Matrix seems to be the best.

If you are at all uncomfortable with any of them though just let us know.
