"filter sock" holders

recent redesign of my plumbing has me looking at filter sock (mechanical filter) holders. My filter socks are stainless steel rimmed 10 micron bags and I need something that will work with them. Any DIY ideas out there? Anything used available? Is CF open today?

Gary, Do they have the "handles/loops" on them? My filter sock holder is a piece of hard plastic tubing that rests across the sump rim with the sock loops hanging onto it. I dropped beads of silicone on the rim on either side of the tube to keep it from moving around.

I cut two small holes at the top of each sock and tied a loop of string between them. The socks hang from the string.

Marine depot has these - Berlin Sump 4 Inch Acrylic Sock Holder Mount

This probably won't work but could you tell me why?

This is what I use. I found it at Dr. Fosters & Smith but I just looked for it and couldn't find it. Caribbean Forest sells these too. I think Milli makes them to your specs.

you've got me thinking!

good ideas so far.

My filter socks don't have handles. The top of each sock consists of a round stainless steel ring which the bag hangs down from.

The standard Marine Depot holder won't work with my application without a major mod- in which case I'd probably be better off building my own holder. The reason the MD holder won't work here is because I have two 1.5" drains dumping just under 1,000 gallons per hour into my sump. In such an arrangement the 10 micron bags clog up really quickly, so I need to be able to easily remove and replace the filters. The MD holder's method of sliding the bag in horizontally is very appealing.

this is why I wanted to get over to CF today.
That bag looks just like the type I use.

Maybe I'll have them build one (or two) for me :)
