griss' Tank Upgrade Thread

Might be a while. The stand is in the garage currently and the tank is in the basement. The person I bought this from bought it used. Either the original seller or the person I bought it from just cut all the PVC plumbing. So, I've been removing the bulkheads to (eventually) replace them. Also, one of the overflows was cracked/broken where the Loc-Line was located. My Weld-On had dried in the tube so, I had to order more. Just got that last night but didn't have time to reglue the overflow.

Alright @kfisc you shamed me into pics🤣

Since I have a more robust RODI than what came with the mixing station, I removed it from the end where you see the upright 2x4s. I’m selling the RODI that came with this and will replace with my 7 stage once the fish room is built.

2x4’s to build the wall that will divide the fish room from laundry room have been purchased. On the way home with them now. I have the boy’s assistance (he works construction) for a few hours today.

Very cool. It looks like we are definitely moving soon, so I’ll have to come up with a solution for my fish room…I don’t have one in the new house. I may have to expand a guest room closet or something

Well, progress stopped. We tried to drill anchor bolts for the footer boards and can’t get the hammer drill with masonry bit deeper than an inch. So, tried the nail framing nail gun, didn’t penetrate the concrete. Tried the Ramset manual nail gun with concrete/aggregate (yellow) loads, still can’t penetrate the concrete. Looked at the local stores for a night nail gun load and everyone is out of stock.

The boy has a commercial concrete drill at work. This week he’s going to ask his boss if he can borrow it for next weekend. So, we’re at a standstill until then.

Old concrete can be a bitch but sometimes you are hitting a piece of granite rock or rebar. How many spots did you try?

We tried 5 spots with the same result, here’s where the nails hit.
