If You Are New to Reef Central, Introduce Yourself Here!

Hey guys,

My name is Chris. I am 23yrs old. I have about 2yrs experience in freshwater. I currently have a 50g tall show tank. It is currently stocked with bala sharks and catfish. I was going for a lake theme. I plan on selling my current tank and getting a nice 125g long tank for a reef. My aunt just set up a 29g reef tank with a refugium/protein skimmer and a rena xp1. She has had nothing but bad luck. I have been reading this forum the last week or so and have learned a lot. I plan on taking things very slow and making sure everything is perfect. I cannot afford to just set up a tank and add livestock only to give them a death sentence. I wanna plan things out and do it right. I hope to learn a lot more on this site. Thank you for jam packing this site with info, cause people like me need it.

Glad someones reading the info here.

Go ahead and start a thread in the New to the Hobby forum with your question and you'll get plenty of advice on how to get started. 65lbs of live rock is a great start. it all comes down to preference on what you want it to look like. there's no set standard as to how to set up your "aquascape"

My name's Matt. I've had freshwater tanks on and off for 20 years, but always have dreamed of a saltwater tank. Over the past several years, I've started dreaming of a reef tank. I'm finally in a house that will work for a larger tank, now just need to work on the $$$ and education parts..... I've been reading on this site on and off for a couple years, so not really really new, but have never introduced myself.

Matt To Reef Central sounds like you have the right idea. learn as much as you can and when you're ready (or when you have the $$ :D) get your tank started right. In my opinion fresh water has nothing on salt. glad to have you here.

Hi ya'll! My name is Josh and I live in SW Oklahoma. I am a diesel technician and work for the US Army repairing towed and self-propelled howitzers and other tracked vehicles. I just got 1st my tank Saturday. It was given to me buy a friend of mine who has rental properties here in town that I help him with. A renter left it in one of his houses, and he didn't want it but needed it moved Its a 55g with a Aqua Tech power filter, Eheim professional filter/pump(not sure what that is) 2 heaters, some rock, and 10-12 fish. I posted in the newbie section for some help cause I don't know jack about saltwater aqariums but I sure wanna learn. It looks like a great and addicting hobby. Thought I should say Hello

Hello all! Just joined, glad to be here. I have been sitting on the sidelines for a long time, reading, reading, watching, and doing some more reading. Should have all of my equipment today. Waiting on the UPS to deliver my return pump and skimmer. Ordered all the sand and rock....... Planning on setting up on the weekend of Dec. 19th. I will track and post pics once I get started. Wish me luck. I look forward to many discussions (should have said HELP Q and A sessions).

Hi all, I'm just trying to get into this hobby. I've got a 20 gallon tank but I'm thinking it will be too small for a FOWLR. Any thoughts on this?

Thanks
