If You Are New to Reef Central, Introduce Yourself Here!

Hello all! Just set up my 10g tank recently. My brother used to have cichlids but I decided to go the SW route. I have a build thread set up.

Great community here, I'm glad it's here to help us newbies out.

Hiya everyone.

I've been a long time lurker, but a first time poster.

Just got into playing with saltwater, but so far it has been great and very interesting. Just recently bought a JBJ 3g pico and an AC70 with which I'm making into a refugium.

Currently I'm battling some aiptasia that my one piece of LR came with, but Joe's Juice has been helping with that. ;)

Hello guys and gals , i guess i should have started here before jumping into the forums , please excuse my manners, My name is Kenny , i am fairly new to Saltwater tanks, I had a chance to start off somewhat big , and i ran with it , my first and current tank is a 220 gal dt with a 60 gal sump, i have been running it as a FOWLR for a little over a year now , and now i would like to get into reefing , i just upgraded my lights to t5's (2, 4x48" fixtures , running a 12000k, a figi purple, and 2 true actinics in each) i have maybe 350 lbs of live rock and a 2 inch sand/coral bed. so far my tank houses a large one spot fox face, a orange stripe tang , a regal tang , a coral beauty ,cross hatch butterfly, a sailfin , large school of blue/green chromis and a queen angel. along with lots of snails , crabs and a few serpent stars , and a big bristle star (Hercules), who is in time out in the sump right now. i have learned so much so far and had so many ideas , i am looking forward to starting my journey in corals, and look forward to all the help i can get.

Kenny

I would like to see some pictures of your tank. I always like seeing the tanks with the fiji purples. If you haven't already, start a thread with lots of pictures of your tank and document your transition into reef.

At least with a 3 gallon it wont be too hard to get all the aiptaisia, the only thing I would say is use that joes juice sparingly in such a small tank.

Hi, My name is Dave and I got my first tank (African Cichlids) in 1980. Ive been into SW about 7 yrs now. I currently have a 210g reef tank and a 600g tank that I will be making a FOWLR. Im having alot of fun and learning alot of new things here on RC.

Hi my name is Josh. I started out with a 26 gallon bow front about 2 months ago and have become hoplessly addicted to this hobby. My two year old daughter loves the small tank. My wife and I are in the proces of gathering ad much info as we can because we want to upgrade to a much larger tank as soon as possible.

Hi

Hi

My name is Win, I was roomies with Thirst in college. Helped him move his many different tanks to several different apts throughout college and after. Just bought one a 35g one off of him b/c I needed a hobby. I get all of my information from him, and am too lazy to read threads. But I am trying to start, for some reason I can't read any of threads he sends me so I figured it must be because I don't have any posts. Am I correct?

Hi

I'm new

I'm a reef head..no really,I have a piece of gonipora in my head (ocular implant)

question: when replying to an thread and inserting a link to a website how can you 'label' that link instead of having it in it's root form? ...

The one thing that is certain, no matter how long you have been in the hobby there is always something new to learn. Please start a thread showing off your 210.

this site is a wealth of knowledge, you'll be able to find everything you're looking for.

No you should be able to view the threads without a user name, unless the threads are in one of the blocked forums such as the buy/sell/trade forums. You'll have to meet some criteria before viewing those.

that's a simple one, I'm sure you're aware of how to add a link by clicking on the icon of the globe and what looks like either a chain link or an infinity symbol. first copy the link you want to paste, click on that icon and paste the URL into it, click OK and when it embeds the link into your message, a certain portion of that embedded link is repeated and highlighted, all you have to do is replace the highlighted portion with the phrase or comment that you want to add . For example, here is the link of a great thread for new comers: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1031074
and now here is a link for new comers with the repeated URL replaced with the phrase. HTH
