James404's 225g+ SPS Dominant

I'm guessing you're busy with the setup now? What is your time frame for getting it up and running?

Not in a major rush with the setup since I have my 75g running and currently battling AEFW with it. Between family obligations and other house projects it will be slow but steady.

Hi James, congrats! can you please post picture of glass-holes overflow? my tank have 2 holes like your tank. Thanks.

Sammy

Sorry to hear about the AEFW. I've got a very similar build to yours going, and like you I've got AEFW, on the 60g that all my livestock is in. Do you have a plan for eradicating them before moving your livestock into your new display? I've got a few ideas, but nothing in action yet.

Thanks Sammy I will post pics of the overflow soon, one thing that I have heard is that the glass holes overflows are made by hand so one may be a little bit different than another in terms of hole spacing.

I have been doing ReVive dips on all acros every 3-4 days, leave each acro in the dip for at least 2-3 minutes and then start shaking them in the water or blasting them with a turkey baster. This will kill the AEFW, if you see any eggs they need to be scraped off. This should be done every few days for 2-3 months until no more AEFW are found.

I've used TMPCC some, doing the same thing you're doing, but I'm not confident that it's possible to eradicate these things with all the rock and other livestock in the tank. Seems like there are too many places to hide!

How are your acros holding up so far?

Have had some casualties so far but I guess thats the price I pay. Most of the acros are holding up ok now, two nights ago I dipped and there was no AEFW at all so I think I am making progress. Will continue treatment and see.

Has TMPCC worked in killing them? I have no experience with it but I do know that both ReVive and CoralRX work well in killing them.

I would say that TMPCC has worked when I've dipped frags. I've definitely seen dead worms in the bowl after I baste the coral. The little buggers just keep coming back, though. No coral losses, so I guess that's the tradeoff. I've got some Levamisole to try if I can ever get a QT going for the SPS. That's really great to hear that you've reached a point with no signs of AEFW. I hope it stays that way for you.

Thanks Fish, keep at it, you will beat them eventually with persistent dipping :)

Finally made some progress today. Got the supports under the floor. Was not fun to say the least. I really wasn't sure if my body could get through the hole and there was absolutely no way to make it bigger. My fiance was kind enough to document it.

No problem Jim and thank you for checking out my build. Moving is the perfect excuse to get a bigger tank! :)

Very nice tank indeed....
Are you running zeovit since I saw you have a reactor....
