Hey guys. I got a RW-8 for my 150Gal (6'x2'x2'), and love it. I just ordered the second one for the opposite side of the tank - should be here this Thursday.
Can anyone tell me what the master/slave mode does compared to leaving both controllers running as masters?

One controller to go to for setting up things like Feedmode and mode changes. Also can sync modes for off on patterns if they are paired. I am soon going to 4 RW-8.

Anyone have thoughts for a 55 gallon. From what I'm hearing these pumps are strong. in depate over 2 rw8's or 2 rw4's? for 48" spread. I had the koralia smartwave with 1500's and it was very noisy and the settings were not all that great. I currently have a jebao return pump dc3000 and it is awesone. super quiet, nice build up to power, and adjustable flow, for a great price. I would like to continue with the jebao products.

It really depends on what you are keeping in your 55gal. Just for reference I have a 180 gal mixed reef with softies and LPS. I also have a sandbed. I'm running two RW-8s at about 70% power in wave mode. HTH

thanks for the reply. I got an email from Logan at reefbreeders and he suggested that these pumps seem stronger due to a wider flow than most other pumps. He suggested on 2 rw-8's and play with the settings. We'll see how they work!

any one havering start up problems
i order 4 rw 8
2 of which will run then stop and not start up
i tried swapping power supplies and controllers with the ones that work
did not help if i give the impeller a push it will work for a while then stop
and quite HELP please

thanks

I've only had to small similar hickups but they have resolved themselves so I don't think I can help. My rw8 got locked in feed mode after a power outage but disconnecting and reconnecting the power supply fixed that. On my rw15 I had it in the tank and then pulled it out then put it back in the tank and it wouldn't spin u til I pushed on the impeller, I'm assuming salt got dried up in the impeller. But both issues went away quickly and haven't returned.

My second RW-8 was a little noisy on arrival (first one is dead silent). I e-mailed Fish Street support, and Eric responded "...you can remove the cover exchange the impeller, sometime different sound is based on the impeller cover too tense".

He was right, at least in my case. I just wiggled the front cover of the noisy one a bit (did not even need to take it off) and it became dead silent. You might try that.

Shockingly, the pump casing has a little more play in it than did my Koralias. I've not owned Tunze or Vortec, but I would imagine the tolerances are a little tighter than Jebao's. Still, for the money the Jebaos are more than worth it in my opinion. I love my RW - 8s.

For those of you that had both, the WP-40 and RW-8. I have 2 WP-40 which i clean monthly to avoid slowness. Can you tell if with the RW-8 the maintenance has been equal or they require less or more cleaning???

Thanks in advance...

Just added 2 RW20s. to the ends of the tank and have 2 WP40s on the back of the tank mounted on the sides of the overflows. Running them all on else mode gives me plenty of water movement. Just trying to figure out the best way to aim them to minimize the one bare spot it has created in my sandbed.
Mine do seem a little loud\. I can hear them rev up... didn't have this issue with the WP40. Anyone else have loud RW20s?
