Yesterday I added a LED strip to complement with the 10x 39 Watt ATI T5. It's a 36" LED strip containing 10 CREE Royal Blue and 10 CREE White 3 Watt Led's. Wide lenses really spread the light from front to back, and prevent "spotlights" of blue and white light.

The strip is placed between my two ATI sunpower pendants (6x39 Watt and 4x 39 Watt), so it is placed in the middle of the tank just a bit to the front.

I really appreciate the added shimmer and a bit more balanced light, because it was a tad too blue before.

Beautiful pocci garden.....:lolspin:

Which is do you like, with bare bottom or sand?

Thank you! I try to fine-tune coral color and growth by optimizing flow, increased feeding while maintaining low NO3, PO4 and organics.
A Bare Bottom tank allows me to use heavy flow, necessary for large colonies. It also helps me to more directly control the nutrient level.

You are truly a master. How long is your photoperiod?

Thank you, the photoperiod is:

12 hours a day: 4x 39 Watt Blue/Actinic T5 + 20x 3 Watt CREE Royal Blue/White LED
5 hours a day: 10x 39 Watt T5 + 20x 3 Watt CREE Royal Blue/White LED

So 12 hours of light, and 5 hours high intensity.

What a killer tank, a tip of the hat to you sir!

Thank you! It's far from finished, but I feel I'm on the right track with this idea :)

Another wonderful masterpiece! I loved the last deepwater Acro tank, but this is looking beautiful, too! :)

I happen to be a Pavona fan. Have you considered a gold/copper P. maldivensis? Beautiful coral with a true metallic sheen that would really glow nicely.

Is that a total of 12 hours or 12 hours plus another 5 totaling 17 hours? Also do you do moonlight simulation ?
Thanks

Total of 12 hours. I do not use any moonlight sim.

What a gorgeous underwater garden. I am jealous.

Thank you! :)

Thank you :) The deepwater Apogon Reef had a different atmosphere. I really loved all the tables but I have to admit I love these large fuzzy round colonies even more :)

I didn't knew the P. maldivensis, but I will keep it in mind when I search for more interesting corals. Thanks for the input! :)

I am so glad I stumbled on this thread, I just finished catching up from the beginning with my morning coffee.
Your tank is STUNNING Sir, quite inspirational. I had never considered any cardinals other than the 3 PJs that I have. I will now be doing some reading and will be on the lookout for a small school for my new build.
Thanks for the inspiration!
Following along!

Thanks for the kind words, very glad you like my reef :) I have had 50+ Cardinals before, and they are a great and unique addition to any reef aquarium.
I've written some articles about proper quarantine and shipping cardinals, because it's not the easiest fish (in the beginning). Maybe you can read these before you start :) When acclimated they are quite hardy and not so shy at all.

This project was originally called "Apogon Reef". I've tried to add some Leptacanthus Cardinals several times to try, but they perished every time because of the very high flow. That's why I decided to stop trying. I'm thinking about Anthias right now, but I'm a bit undecided.

Thinking about these:
