Think I have lost the smaller of the two Potters, although it was eating I haven't seen it for the past 5 days, not given up all hope but it isn't looking good. The other one seems to disappear for a few days and then appear again. It was out last night so I added loads of food to the tank, which it took. Trying to make sure I fatten it up so it has more energy to stay out longer. My wife is keeping an eye out for it today and will add extra food to the tank if it comes out before I get back from work.

Although I will be gutted if I have lost one, I will be happy if one of them survives. Oh and when the new potters is out the leopard doesn't seem to bother it anymore which is good news.

Still a way to go before I am confident that it will be okay, but I won't stop trying.

I didn't take the other choati in the end, decided to let the potters settle first. Will add another when one become available, but I am not in a rush.

I don't know if anyone has told you before, but consider treating them with Prazipro in case they have internal parasites. Don't give up hope yet; my first leopards ever came in a group of four, three of which died in the first three days. The fourth disappeared for five days and I gave up hope. He popped up, much to my surprise and delight, and finished his transition from a female m. bipartitus to a male. He is absolutely beautiful now.

Male Choati Leopard Wrasse

Male Choati Leopard Wrasse

Well, it has now been a full month that I have had the male in my tank. The female continues to do fine as well. So I have a pair of Bipartus and a pair of Choati. Very exciting. No mating behavior that I have seen.

Altogether, with five leopard wrasses, I have acquired 3 M. bipartus to get a pair (one perished the first day), and five M. choati (2 DOA, one perished after a week) to get a pair. This batting average has been as good as it is (if it is good?) because of acquiring good specimens through Live Aquaria DD and because I think my tank is well suited to leopards. I never quarantine leopards or mandarins but I do acclimate. They all like PE mysis but I am never sure if they eat other foods introduced to the tank. All of them do hunt.

Dave, as I have mentioned before, I am the worlds worst aquarium photographer. Maybe worse than that. Also, the M. choati especially zip around hunting and would be very difficult to photograph. But when I get a day off, I will try.

well dont get hurt it was just a suggestion in the hope of getting this tread jumpstarted until i can get my monster tank up and running .so feel no pressure just have fun with it if you may !

Im disapointed; after anxiously waiting a week for my LFS to receive the meleagris I ordered, they called me to inform me that both melegris they had ordered had died in shipment :(

so... a quick question for everyone....i just found out my LFS sells a prazi pro treated fish food, I never treated any of my leopards, they were just added directly to the tank. i would like to pickup some of this food to give to them just to be on the safe side, but will it be problematic for any inverts in my tank? i know your not supposed to use the normal prazi meds w/inverts, so would it be pretty much the same with the pelletized food with prazi in it? thanks.

I've used Prazipro many many times main tank, without any adverse affects on snails, corals, shrimp (peppermint, cleaner, pistol), clams, or anything along those lines. I'm assuming the treated food is the Jungle Jim's pellets or whatever? I have that stuff, and none of my fish would eat it... kind of defeated the purpose.

yes i think the pellets contain the parasiquel that is the ingredient in the prazipro . sorry for the spelling error ! the pellets that i have are made by" jungle jim " and they specify for internal parasites .

0/1 Bipartitus (lived for months until I added additional MM Leopards, maybe introduced worms)
1/3 female Meleagris
0/1 male Meleagris

so, that's actually 1 out of 5.
