Got myself a potter's wrasse yesterday, came in from hawaii in real good shape. After acclimating it swam around hunting for a little while but then I was putting in a coral I got on the same order and it disappeared into the sand somewhere. I hope it comes out today! Such a gorgeous fish!

It may take a day or two to come out. Also it will take a while to adjust its biological clock.

didn't see it when i got home from work today and didn't check this morn (my lights are on from 1030 to 1030 so they were off when i left for work). i'll keep an eye out tonight and hopef it comes out soon. It's nice to have this thread as reference though, I would have thrown in the towel otherwise haha

I should mention it's in a 180gal that's been setup since october but all the stuff in the tank came from my 90gal that is 1.5 years old. had a twin spot hogfish in the tank when it was acclimating but it tried to ram the bag a few times so the twinspot was given away, nothing else should bother it in there except maybe a royal gramma but it mostly sticks to its one little cave.

what kind is mysterybox's third pic? i think thats my newest one.
i lost my bipartis a few months ago after having him for over 3 years. any ideas why? i added no new fish to the tank for a while. he kept eating but not quite as vigourisly but still got skinny over a couple weeks and lost strength and disappeared for good, my thought was something internal? :( was mine and my gf's fav fish, had to get this guy to replace him. he/she is her valentines day gift ;)
hopefully the new guy hold's his own with my other fish and yellow coris and sea grass wrasse. i still want to add a radiant too.
drip acclimated, left actinics on, placed in tank, tossed in a good mix of rods, mysis etc.

that little leopard wrasse has been one of the tougher for me but i had a great batch come in and the two that i got have been doing so well .i think it still comes down to the collection process and how they were handled throughout .flip of the coin and the rest is up to us .

Third picture down is a female m. meleagris. Your picture looks like a match, although it doesn't look very black from that angle. Could have been internal parasites... could be many things.

well i got home from work today and my potter's was out so i immediately fed it some pe mysis and it ate a bit then went back into hiding. hopefully this starts a trend haha

So... who bought the "Tinfoil Leopard Wrasse" off of DD today? Wrasseman, didn't you get the last one?

i think wrasseman was the proud owner the last time around....maybe he decided to pair up? :D i'm wondering why somewhere like DD is labeling this fish as a leopard even though it is a differant species? a bit confusing to me.

def. a match, he is black when in the tank but in that pic he turned out red. he came out today for about 1 hour, i tossed in a bunch of food, showed interest but no eating from what i saw.

yes the pe mysis is very inticing to fish and usually is the best thing going .the only food that may be more irristable would be live brine or mysis and even baby ghost shrimp . the later two are very difficult to keep alive .i have had very good results with live brine and then switch over to the pe mysis once he gets settled down.

do you guys add selcon or garlic to the pe mysis? I usually soak all my food I feed in it but I don't want to discourage mine from eating.

got home and mine was out for the second day and ate pe mysis soaked in selcon again. don't mean to keep flooding this thread but i'm really excited. it was out for much longer today and ate more. Only thing that is bothering me is that its color seems lighter than it was when i first got it. might just be me though...

flood it Doublejeasus, thats why its here .i do use additives myself but only once a week as the stuff can create an algae bloom if you use it every day .

Think I have lost the smaller of the two Potters, although it was eating I haven't seen it for the past 5 days, not given up all hope but it isn't looking good. The other one seems to disappear for a few days and then appear again. It was out last night so I added loads of food to the tank, which it took. Trying to make sure I fatten it up so it has more energy to stay out longer. My wife is keeping an eye out for it today and will add extra food to the tank if it comes out before I get back from work.

Although I will be gutted if I have lost one, I will be happy if one of them survives. Oh and when the new potters is out the leopard doesn't seem to bother it anymore which is good news.

Still a way to go before I am confident that it will be okay, but I won't stop trying.

I didn't take the other choati in the end, decided to let the potters settle first. Will add another when one become available, but I am not in a rush.
