I suppose that's the million dollar question- what makes the batches good? My new foursome were all out tonight, all eating. What a nice change to the second day deaths that I have experienced. Still much too early to call it success... but at least I can say I fed them.

Sounds good so far! What vendor did you buy from?

I just picked up a small Potter's on Saturday and it seems to be doing well although I have not seen it eat yet. Any suggestions on food that will get it interested in eating (I do see it picking at the rocks and such however)? I have tried frozen brine and mysis as well as live blackworms.

PE mysis usually works. Live brine is irresistible.

tylt, what retailer did you buy from? i have been looking around for a "good batch" of bipartitus. congrats by the way :D

I got them from Vivid Aquariums. Call and talk to Shaun- he's in charge of their shipping and livestock. They still had more in stock when I bought mine... Keep us posted if you get some, and you can give me congratulations when they've made it a bit longer ;) no bodies this morning though!!! :)

Thanks for the information. When a complete month has passed, that will be a significant milestone. Not a guarantee, just a milestone.

i've currently got most of my attention focused on a regal angel i just picked up and trying to get it to eat right now. it is very tempting though.....

Yeah... I can look back through this thread on my various highs and lows... a month is when I'm ready to start tossing around the idea of success. The fact that they're not dead already is a milestone for me :)

Snorvich (and others), in your experience, have you noticed any difference in success rates based on the size of the fish? My new wrasse are small (1.5"ish) and I'm wondering if maybe the larger fish ship more poorly, or are harder to acclimate... I know that's the case with other species...

smaller or larger ones go either way IMO . i really believe that it has to do with how they were collected and housed during the shipping process etc .that is what i think snorvich was talking about when he spoke of "batches" .if im not correct please correct me Steve

IME, smaller is better.

I got what Snorvich was talking about... I was just wondering if there seemed to be a higher rate of smaller fish or larger fish that do well. Seems with a lot of fish species the smaller ones do better.

That is absolutely correct. I have large ones and small ones and have not noticed any differences. I have noticed that batches tend to be good and I am GUESSING it is a collection and handling issue.

Macropharyngodon choati wrasse status

Well today is day 15 and my male Macropharyngodon choati wrasse is still doing well. I keep hoping for mating with my female but no luck with that yet. Still, I am so very pleased that my male is still doing well. I will keep you posted . . .

My awesome leopard wrasse!

My awesome leopard wrasse!

Well, here is my leopard wrasse. My wife had to have one so I made her research this thread on how to properly care for one. Thank you everyone for all the wonderful advice. She is our first try and is doing well after 5 weeks. She came from liveaquaria and was added straight to the tank. She loves PE mysis and spirulina brine. Excellent fish and the wifey loves her! She is in a 75 gallon.
