Thanks for the info!

Today I visited a local hobbyist that had 4 leopards, male, that all got along: potters, meleagris, vermiculite, and ornate. No aggression between them all.

MAN THOSE ORNATE AND POTTERS LOOK AWESOME!!!!

I know POTTERS is on my radar next!

So I have 3/4 of my bipartitus harlem are fine, swimming eating ect, I even have one starting to get more green in the face (male?). There is one that swims upside down and erratic and seems to be not really with it, this started after my prazi treatment she comes out during hte day and sleeps in the sand at night. Any suggestions on what to do here, do I let it run its course or should I start thinking of euthanizing this fish?

I love my Potters and kept him over the other I had. I had to remove the others as the Potters took a severe disliking to all the other leopard wrasses. And this was in my 180 with lots of caves and sand to hide or dive down into. Not just pecking at fins but full on ramming into rocks like he does to larger pieces of meaty foods I add to the tank. Otherwise he doesn't bother any other fish or wrasse I have and none of the others ever bother him.

So, YMMV

Hey guys, I have a leopard wrasse that eats frozen mysis and picks at the rocks but it never eats pellets. Is there any way I can get it to eat the pellets?

Just be happy he eats well. In time he will learn from other fish and eat pellets too. I have one that took months and months before taking pellets, but finally did.

Does anyone know if having 3 meleagris is a bad idea? I heard they're good to have in a small group, I am not expecting them to school or a be a tight group, but I unintentionally ended up with 3.

Good IMO I have only 2 which leads to the female taking quite a bit of harassment from the male since she is ALL he is interested in. I'd like to add another female at some point.

I also have 4 right now in my 200g. There are male/female meleagris, 1 bipart, and 1 ornate. I'm trying for a potter's and I may try for another female meleagris. I also had a small black leopard but I believe he jumped I just haven't been able to find it. I had her for about 6 months and she was doing great with the others and poof, gone.

Thats really odd but not first time I heard someone say that.

Update on my potters in QT, she looks really good now eating worms and mysis. 2 days after adding a butterfly to my QT the wrasse learned by watching the butterfly eat IMO.

So people are saying on here that adding pellets to the frozen food might help get a wrasse to eat the pellets. So does that mean mixing the 2 or just adding the pellets in with the frozen at the same time? If mixing, would you thaw the frozen in some of the tank water, add the pellets so it soaks up some of the frozen juice then feed? I have a blue star leopard that attacks pe mysis like a mma fighter but does not even nibble the nls 1mm pellets. I have him in qt with a midas which eats both, hopefully the leopard learns cause I know at some point I'm going to want to go on vacation, lol.

It's really just a matter of time. All of my leopards (meleagis, negrosnsis, potters, and biparts) now eat pellets, but it took a while. Unless you're planning a month long, round the world type vacation, a leopard that has been eating well will be fine for a week.

Sadly, I had to euthanize two of mine. They were swimming all sorts of funny and upside down. Don't know what did that to them? Ammonia spike/bacterial bloom/swim bladder issue?

They came from the same seller, while the other one is perfect.

One of the most difficult things I had to do to a struggling, live animal. Never want to do that again.

Sorry to hear that jbvdhp, I can imagine that it must been tuff. I really hope the other makes it for you!

Ca1ore: I definitely like the sound of that! 7 day trips with the family is about all I'll do. I guess I'll keep trying while in the ttm and qt. If nothing there then maybe in the dt.

Thanks max. It sucks man.. Leopards are beautiful fish, but I hate it when things go wrong. I contemplate whether I should have just thrown them into the DT, but I fear dz intro to the fish I just treated.

Well finally got my blue star leopard in my dt. After all this time in qt he'd never go into the sand. After half a day in the dt, gone, lol. Of course the melanurus wrasse helped him with that. Not to much nipping but still some chasing here and there. It's getting better as the BSL swims by the mel without running away as much. I'm sure they'll calm down soon enough.

One question, what type of flow does the blue star come from. At times when he's swimming and hits the current from my power head he kind of seems to get taken off guard. I have the power turned way down due to my new golden torch coral so I know that it can't be to strong.

Anywho, I tried getting a few shots but using a phone with no flash is quite difficult. I tried 1 shot using the flash but the light washes things out.

Tank looks very new, leopards usually like to pick!

As in pods, if that's what you're referring to then I do have a bunch of those in the tank. He also attacks PE Mysis and LRF. Just waiting on him to star enjoying some NLS pellets and flakes. The melanurus and Midas eat everything so hopefully I'll see the blue star do the same.

He looks very fat and healthy

I got my Potter's through his initial QT and then TTM. Started in acclimation box today in the display. Good thing because there seems to be some initial aggression. From the established females only? My male couldn't seem to care less. He hasn't even given a look. All 3 of my other females are very ticked off, displaying head over tail... Check it out...

Perhaps my girls have become sub-males?

Wow, awesome patterns. Mine could care less of the mel but tries breaking the glass due to his reflection. I say good thing you have a acclimation box.

Great shots, good luck adding the potters, hopefully the aggression will die down for you.

Is anyone keeping Meleagris and Bipartitus in the same tank? I have 2 Bipartitus and 2 meleagris in a 200gallon right now and while the 2 bipartitus are getting along well(they're always together), one of the bipartitus is trying to murder the meleagris. One of the meleagris comes out only in the early morning before the bipartitus does and get chased and pecked around then go into the sand. The other meleagris comes out later in the day and get chased and pecked around then goes into the sand. At this point, I don't know what to do because it will be quite a task to get any of the wrasse out.

My potters escape the box later that same day. My male meleagris doesn't mind the potters at all. The female, or maybe submale? ornate, hates it but not too bad. Roused it up a little but leaving the potters alone for the most part.

They will most likely work it out. I don't worry much about the leopards as long as they have some chance to get food. If it is relentless to the point of it never coming out, that worries me a little.

My count now is 2 meleagris 1 male/1female, 1 female bipart, 1 female ornate, one female potters. Also a 200g

I have 3 F Melegris, and a pr of Bipartitus in my 450g DT (total about 75fish, ~ 40 of them are wrasses)...all get along fine, the M bipart changed sex about 2 months ago (in about 24 hrs) has grown a lot since the change, hopefully he stays peaceful

I have large female Meleagris and Bipartitus in my tank and get along fine. They won't change because I also have a larger male Ornate that's the boss.
