Mike's 200g

Beautiful corals! That pearlbery is just stunning. We have about the same size tank and I dose color elements, 5ml. each bottle once per week. I think that's a good place to start.

Thanks. Pearlberry is still kinda pale, hoping maybe color elements will help with this?
Have you noticed improvement with 5ml once per week from each? Do you dose all at same time?

Wow, Mike!! The corals are looking stunning.
The colors are very rich and growth looks great.
Those corals are not wanting for very much, it looks like to me..
I love the new plana. I have the same coral from a Fiji shipment. Even if it isn't the most rare thing out there it is always beautiful.

Thanks. I feel there is improvement in color that can be made. Still Very pale growth, but also some dull and even brownish colors.
The plana is great, I like the very delicate branching growth.

Spathulata frag... Completely changed color since I got it. Growing lots of little growth buds. Looks like it might take off soon.

Having a really hard time keeping my alk steady at the moment. It keeps dropping so I increase my dosage and it still drops. However my consumption of calcium has not changed much and magnesium I don't even need to dose.
I use the fauna marin balling lite additives And am dosing close to 200 ml of alk a day, does this seem a lot for a 200 gallon tank? My calcium is probably only close to a quarter that amount dosed per day. I was wondering if this seems about right, if I'm mixing it wrong, or if something else might be off. Any input appreciated. And any one else that uses the fauna marin balling lite are you using much more all than calcium or is it closer to the same amounts of each?

200ml per day sounds extreme, either your ALK is bad, test is off, or your doser is malfunctioning. In comparison I use about 90ml per day on my 250G to maintain a dKH of 7.5 pretty much equal to my daily dose of CA with runs at 425.

I don't dose so I can't help you there..
Your Cali tort is so blue. Very nice. Mine has some green deep in the body. I like deep blue of yours

I found with higher light I get more blue, lower light gets green in the body. I think both ways look nice though

I have just got a new doser a jebao dp4, that I will (try to) set up this weekend. Are you using the fauna marin balling lite salts? I think I am preparing it correctly. But I guess you never know unless someone tells you otherwise.

Set up the new doser to dose alk and calcium. I dislike I could calibrate this one. I knocked the dosing back a little just incase the amounts are way different I think I would precede a slow downward trend to raise than a quick upward to have to lower.
I set it up to dose 180ml of fauna marin alk spread out over 10 times a day, and 60 ml of fauna marin calcium spread out 6 times a day. I know it should really be closer to equal but based on my previous dosing my alk is used up much more than calcium. I will monitor over the next few days and see what happens.

I use ESV so I am sorry but can't accurately comment on Fauna, but at that rate I hope the Fauna is cheap. If you need to truely run that much F product then you might want to compare it with ESV. How big a dosing reservoir do you have if you're using + 200ml of Fauna per day?

I used to only have a 2.5 litre dosing resevior... Got fed up with that .... So I took a 5 gallon water jug for the water coolers like you get in offices and now use that as my resevior.

Michael, before the crash of last year I was using 100ml+ in my small 47G tank. I was making up the solution according to FM. My tank was completely full of acros. So its very possible you are using a correct amount.

How are the acro colours at the moment? My brother is getting into reefkeeping again and I've got him a couple of Radions.

1. How do you rate the radions?
2. You've got 5 units with wide lens and placed fairly high; how is the acro colours when viewing from the front?
3. What made you choose Radion LED's instead of T5 or MH?
4. Have you compared colours of the SPS from other buddies with MH or T5?

Thanks.

Hi Sahin thanks for input, what was your calcium consumption like during that time? Just seems like a huge difference in quantities.

1. I like my radions a lot, once you get your program set and learn to turn them down I think they are great.
2. The reason I went with more units than "needed" and the wide angle lenses is to try and get a more even spread, as you might see with t5 and combat some of the common "shadowing" and hot spot issues with led. I defiantly think it was a big difference when I put more units per square foot. Colors to me look good from front, I do find reds a bit hard though.
3.couple reasons why I use them over other lighting...mainly heat and changing bulbs. It is the only lights I have used and I do see things I like in other tanks with different lights but I was actually given these lights so that helped.
4. Right now out of all the tanks I know in person I like my colors best .. But all run led now.

Quick question for you, I know you use fauna marin balling lite, and I think you use coral colors, what is your dosing like? All 3 bottles? Amounts? One time per week or spread out daily?
