Mike's 200g

Thanks. Pearlberry is still kinda pale, hoping maybe color elements will help with this?
Have you noticed improvement with 5ml once per week from each? Do you dose all at same time?

I've never noticed a big difference from anything that's come in a bottle. However, I am currently using color elements, acropower, and sponge power and my corals are looking happy so I'll continue with these for a while longer.

I do not dose at the same time. I dose one on Monday, one on Wednesday and one of Friday.

This is the exact same additives I have started.
I dose 5 drops sponge power every day
15 ml acro power 2 times a week (30 ml total)
And now 5ml. each coral colors per week. I dosed all 3 at same time today. Maybe I should break it up like you do.

That spath frag looks tasty Michael. The tort and clam don't look too shabby either lol - stunners

Hey buddy. I dose ca and alk daily. Mg I manually add it weekly with water changes. So far thats working out alright. As far as my Ca usage previously, it was 40ml+, but Ca i didnt always follow the exact instructions for water to salt ratio, so my number is sort of meaningless to you as I cant recall the concentration.

Thanks buddy. The spath looked much more red and pink in it when I got it, but (apart from my red Dragon and monti caps) I have a hard time with those colors it seems. Oh well... I still really like the colors it is developing.

Thanks sahin, yeah mag I'm not really worried about. Still sounds like you wouldn't have been dosing equal quantities of the alk and 's mixtures anyway even if they were mixed to instructions so I guess I shouldn't be too worried about it.

A few more fish on the reef today. Order arrived from divers den of carberryi anthias trio, and female lyretail trio. So added to my 4 resplendent anthias, one male lyretail, and last remaining tuka it brings my anthias total to12. Doubt the tuka will last much longer though, picky picky fish.
Fish were delivered to work, got to leave a little early to get them home and.....power outage! Wacked the fireplaces on to warm the house a bit and tank, got them acclimating and went to do battle with my generator.
Did a pretty quick acclamation with the fish so they could get in the bigger (hopefully warmer) body of water.
Finally got the stupid generator working so I ran a cord to power return, heaters, flow pumps, and even lights. All was going well (except for dogs going crazy at generator)
Then......gas ran out and I had none on hand. Drive to closest has station... No power. Drive out of area to find gas station with power... Takes over 2 hours due to ridiculous traffic, trees blocking roads, no signal lights working etc.
Get home.... Do battle with generator again...dogs go crazy again.. Everything back running.
Left house now and been at in laws with the family (they have whole house generator so nice and warm, tv, cooked meal etc.
Power is still out at home but I hope the generator is still going, it's very very old and finicky.

Mike, I feel your pain!
The winter of 1998, in and around Montreal, Quebec and into Vermont and Ontario, we had what is referred to as the Ice Storm of '98.
It was a natural disaster of many days in a row of alternating freezing temperatures and heavy freezing rain. It was the confluence of (or perfect storm) of multiple weather systems that hit our region over about a two week period, just after Christmas..
The temperatures and weather systems were perfect for producing heavy rain which would then freeze in contact with any and all surfaces. And just build up...
The heavy accumulation eventually pulled down all the hydro (electrical) lines in the region as well the pylons which hold the wires. Pretty much all of the province and a larger area was totally without power- in the middle of winter. It was a crazy time. I ran my car (Subaru Loyale) for 3 days straight with a power cord which went from the car to my tank. I had a 250 w converter to keep some pumps going. Luckily for me, my heating system ran on natural gas so I had minimal heating (convection only because the water pump was electric) and hot water From the tap but no electricity.
I was lucky, living in the city, I was only without power for 3 days but some people were without power for weeks as crews from several states and provinces rebuilt the electrical pylons and reconnected the many thousands of miles of wire that had been torn down..
There were, if I remember, Only one or two deaths from exposure which was very lucky.
My buddy brought his entire reef to my system and added it all to a sump as we waited for power.
Luckily, after 3 days in the dark, we got power back and my very pale and tired reef came back to life... As did the whole region, ever so slowly..
It was quite an amazing thing to live through... So much community activism. People helping people..
Sorry for the little essay.. Actually felt good to write about it!

Tank doing ok after the power failure?

I worry about your alk dosing but I'm not familiar with the balling lite solutions. I always try and keep Alk and Calcium dosages the same with 2 part and found that they will settle out at a steady level. I've since switched to timed topoff with Kalk and my Alk and calcium have been rock steady ever since.

Power still out. And my generator only seems to work 2 hours at a time. Was a long night having to keep going out to fire it up again. At work now but I'm hoping my wife's father will be able to go by in an hour or so to check up on the generator.

Mike do you have any battery operated air pumps?
In extreme situations, like yours, the tank really only needs to stay above 70 degrees and a bit of flow and oxygen..
If it prolongs the life of the generator, you really don't need any light for a couple of days..
Good luck!

In Toronto it was the storm of July AND December 2013, almost broke my reefing back. I feel you pain and anxiety and wish you the best of luck. Keys to maximize survival, water movement and heat. An airpump would be a bonus but not critical.

Power is back on! Tank seems to be ok.. Colors look a little different somehow, not bad or worse, just different. Havnt tested params but I'm guessing things have dropped due to doser being off.
The 6 New anthias were also out and eating which was a pleasant surprise.
The most amazing thing.... I have a single lyretail in a seperate quarantine tank and I was not able to run power to it. 20 gallon tank had no heat or water movement for 24+ hours, temp must have got in to 50s at night... Was 62 when power came back on.... Little guy is still alive!
