New AquaController 3/3 Pro Firmware

RussM - Thanks! The update to setcond.xml fixed the display. Anyone interested in correcting should be aware the extended ascii character µ is "0181" on your numpad with the alt key depressed.

Spoke to soon. It would seem extended ascii characters are invalid in XML.

Unless you change th character coding of the XML. I need to find it but some time ago I came across a similar issue with a Spanish language application using XML. To fix it I changed the encoding, utf-8? I'll look it up,

Or just use a 'u' instead of a mu ;)

Since I have installed the updated firmware one of my DC8s has gotten corrupted 4 times now. Basically it will not do anything when this happens. The green LED either stays on solid or blinks rapidly and continuously. Unplugging it from the wall for 30 seconds solves the problem for a week or so. The big issue is since it is the first item in the daisy chain, then nothing else works either. When I got home today all controlled devices were off. I am glad it was not real hot today. Any ideas?

I don't think the issue has anything to do with the firmware. It sounds more like a communication issue or perhaps a broken DC8. Most of the time communication issues are caused by cable or connector problems. Check for corrosion on connectors/cables.

Curt

Thanks Curt I will check it more closely. I replace the cable with a new on the first time it happened.

Anyone else having problems with the ACIII and latest firmware corrupting the net username and password? My unit run fine for a couple of weeks after the upgrade and suddenly started to act funny. The front panel is working but it stops running the program or responding to net connections from web interface or iPhone app. A reboot fixes the problem; however, sometimes the net username and password are corrupted and I have to reset them.

Come home yesterday and the tank was 84F!

Something simular happened to me. Locked up and cooked my tank. 95 degrees when I realized.

Don't know if I can blame the update tho.

I'm having similar issues. Mine seems to have amind of it's own with my lighting. It turned on a light 5 this morning when it wasn't supposed to be until 9. Then 9 came along and it turned them all on instead of just one. I unplugged the AC3 and it went back to normal. My program looks fine though, no changes.

I notice on the website that the AC3Pro still shows only the 3.3 firmware, while the AC3 shows this new one available. Was it determined that this firmware update isn't good for the AC3Pro?

Mickey

Thanks, RussM. I don't know why but I often have trouble finding the right download links on that site.

I'm thinking about holding off on the update until I return from a two week trip later in September. I'd hate to go away thinking everything is terrific and then find out I have a problem. things are going very smoothly now.

Regarding the upgrade - I have version 3.2 so I guess that means I need to update using Option B. Or will using one of the other methods (telnet or the tftpd32.exe) work too? I'd like the new features but I really hate to mess things up when their going so well.

Mickey

Mickey, I've found the latest build to be quite stable, but there's nothing wrong with erring on the side of caution.

When you do upgrade from 3.2, be sure to back up your program first per the note in the readme file:

If the firmware is being upgrade from a version less than 3.30, then make sure to save the AquaController's
program configuration before upgrading the firmware. The internal program statement structure has
changed slightly, and the probe names may change after the firmware upgrade.

I'm running 3.4 on 2 AC3's (non-pro). I agree that the new firmware is stable, but I've still been experiencing quirks (random 1 second alarm activations sending e-mails to my phone at the same time of day, but sporadic on days that it happens). This never happened with 3.3, and nothing was changed in programming or positioning of any devices. The other really weird thing is that I'm getting this on both controllers, but from completely different sources. On my main tank, it's from my low water level switch, and happens sometime within 10 minutes of the 2nd MH turning on. On the frag tank it happens when MH1 comes on, the heater turns on for about 8 seconds, and the alarm comes on for 4 seconds during that time. Fairly annoying, but at least it's during times I am always awake.

Is there a way to edit data points so that graphs plot in a narrower range? - i.e. I had my conductivity probe out for cleaning just as that data point was logged as a zero, so now my graphs are compressed, ranging from 0 to 54. Normally it would range from about 51 to 54. I know I could reboot and start over, but I'd hate to lose the trending data. Also has happened during pH probe cleaning, etc.

I can't update the webpage with the new firmware. The firmware itself went fine but when I try to update the webpage I get the following error:

______

Uploading file: all.js...
Operation failed with the following error information:

The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a receive.

I tried rebooting the controller but still get the error. The webadmin page no longer works, I cannot access the config screen. Any ideas?

been experiencing quirks .
Exactly the reason why I flashed two Pro's back to 3.3 Just too many little odd things occurring.
