Our 400 Gallon In Wall Natural Sun-Lit Reef"

Wow cant wait to see the fuge and frag tank!

I hope to have it ready in the coming months my wife is on a six month treatment cycle if we receive good results I will get the green light to start the construction. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for good news

The sun domes look great! Sunny florida has its benefits.

You might want to use a UV meter to see how much is hitting your tank, as I assume the acrylic dome is not a UV filter. You may also consider a high kelvin filter to replicate natural (blue) reef lighting. Take a look at Chromatinet Blue...

You may also want to catch that bird wrasse now while you can, as she is not reef safe.

Keep up the good work.

Mr Wilson // Thank you so much for taking a look at my build. What you and nineball have done is an inspiration to everyone who loves this hobby. I think everyone hopes to someday have a system like yours.

My wife and I love to visit Toronto I went to college in Buffalo and frequently visited Toronto. This past year we were able to see RUSH perform at The Air Canada Center, plus I was able to play golf at The Glen Abbey Golf Club.

I've spoke with the manufacture of the Sun-Dome system many times. The dome blocks harmful UV rays and no heat is added to the system at all. I will check the domes in the coming months with a UV meter.

I was looking at my options to filter the light thanks for the suggestion it's similar to the way I was thinking.

I've had the bird wrasse for 5 years it's been a model citizen I will watch it but my wife loves it and we all know how that goes"¦

Happy New Year! I hope to have yours and Nineballs thoughts on my system in the future.

Im not sure if i missed it but what is your fish list and how many fish do you have. I am looking at getting a 300 gallon and Im trying to get ideas on a stock list and numbers.

I have 51 fish as of now. 13 of the fish were in my 150 gallon tank that I had set up for 9 years. I moved almost all of the live rock and the clean-up crew I sifted out of the old sand. I think I should be able to add 10-15 more.

Water Parameters are:

PO4 ranges from 0.0-.02 // NO3 ranges from 0.0 "“ 0.02 //Calcium range 490-510// Magnesium 1350-1400// PH 8.1-8.2 // S.G. 1.024-1.025// Alk 9.5//
Temp range 76-78.
Topoff water about 4-5 gal a day.
50gal water change every week.
Filter socks are changed every other day, I'm using 50 micron 7"-16" felt socks.

I also have a My Reef Creations MR-6R Recirculating Protein Skimmer or as we like to call it "Skimzilla" it skims 5800 gallons and hour :D

I've never seen an Aquamedic skimmer in action. I have had many skimmers over the years Euro Reef, Reef Dynamics, and Reef Octopus. The amount of skim that the MRC makes unbelievable with the 2 1inch becket injectors nothing can touch the air input. If I turn the air input off the water level is only 1 inch above the blue base the skim is so thick and the bubbles are microscopic If I shine a flood light through the reaction chamber you can't see the light through the skim.

You could always get one of the new MRC skimmers
