Our 400 Gallon In Wall Natural Sun-Lit Reef"

Well Done!! It'll be interesting to see what kind of growth rates you'll get with the "Tubes" vs. more conventional lighting. Please post more pices down the road.

Thanks! Liquid Gardener

Dyraxe- I will be playing it safe the first couple of months with light intensity and with what I put in. I think I will have plenty of intensity. From what I’ve seen others using Sun Domes try to cut back the amount of light they give off. I will also be trying out different light filters from Rosco.com to get the perfect color

I'm building a led system to help with the cooler months here, and for night time viewing

Hey jdpiii3 I have a question about your sump. In the filter sock section, does water fall through the holes that hold the socks? In other words I would imagine the socks just sit in those openings and some water passes through the outside of the sock instead of going through them?

The socks sit lower than the flow plate, when water is flowing it creates a 360 degree water fall over the socks. When new socks are put in I do have some water pass through the outside but stops quickly as the water begins to flow. I went with this design because of easy filter replacement and the water contacts every inch of the filter sock.
Send me a PM and we can set up a time if you would like to see it in action.

Whoaaa extremely cool!!
Love the sun domes. Talk about ecofriendly reef tank!! Great job bro.
And it's pretty bright and looks great.
What corals will ya be stocking? Any wish lists?SPS dominated? Or mixed reef?
You have a juv queen angel in ur tank? If I'm not wrong?
It's one of my fav fish. But I'm too chicken to put it in my new setup. It's gonna be mainly SPS with LPS.
And you hav a mermaid who helps ya. That's rare too :D

Happy Reefing!!

Thanks Reef Noob! Yes the sun domes are very bright, I love how the lighting changes all day long. I will be doing some timelaps photos soon. I'm not sure what types of coral I will be stocking yet, I want to play with many different types the next couple months to see what works best with the lighting. Yes I love the queen angel but the Copper Banded Butterfly is my fav. My wife"mermaid" loves the tank and helping with every part of the build.
