Our 400 Gallon In Wall Natural Sun-Lit Reef"

Absolutely fascinating... I wonder if I could use 2 or 3 smaller skylights to supplement my 200 gallon system.... the 10" skylights are alot cheaper. What is the formula to determine watts for a given skylight?

Thanks “Hotpuppy” I went by the Sun-Domes recommended light equivalent.

The diameter of the tube determines the coverage area - a 10 inch solar light will cover up to 150 sq feet, and provide the equivalent of up to 300 watts. Upgrade to a 13 inch tube, and the coverage doubles to 300 sq feet, with the comparison kicking up to 500 watts. A 21 inch light covers 700 sq feet and delivers up to 1450 watts.

How far south are you? That will determine how much light you will be able to use.

Hello everyone my tank build is being put on hold for the near future. The doctors found a tumor on my wife Kelly's colon that has been diagnosed as stage 4 cancer it has spread to both lungs and her liver. She will be having surgery on Monday morning to remove the tumor. Please keep us in your thoughts.

My thoughts are with you all. I really hate to hear that.

I'll be thinking of you tomorrow morning. Best wishes

Just found the thread.....Read with great interest and then had my interest turned to sorrow. I know the feeling.....

I will say a prayer for a fellow reefer and his mermaid. I hope the surgery went well and will continue to pray.

Hello everyone my wife Kelly is feeling better since the surgery. She is now on phase two of treatment. She has chemotherapy 3 days a week. We are making arrangements to bring her to Sloan Kettering in NY for a second opinion. I had some time to take a couple shots of the tank, It’s doing well the natural sunlight is doing wonders for the coral growth and the fish color is just amazing.

You have a great tank and really like the Solar Tubes for the lighting. How do you like the MRC MR-6R skimmer? Looks like a beast.

Best wishes for you and and your wife.

Thank you everyone, my wife is getting better everyday.

Triton Z- I love the skimmer it's a beast. I've never seen such thick foam, the the gunk that it pulls out is crazy.
