great build, I am going to use 3 21" tubes over my 310 gallon display- cancer is no fun, my Aunt had one of her kidneys removed recently~ chemo sucks, but is worth it! Would love to see your tank when things are more relaxed.
how high are the bottom of your tubes off the surface of the water?
I felt my throat just close up when I read your post about your wife. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your wife. The tank, and wife are just beautiful, and I look forward to the day you can share with us that all is well with Kelly.
Thank you for the kind words everyone my wife and I are thankful for all of the well wishes.
I am very happy with the way the tank is coming along the system has been running for about 4 months and the coralline growth is unbelievable. When I was setting up the tank I didn’t want to invest a lot of money into coral that I didn’t know would grow under the lighting so I got a bunch of frags well every frag has considerable growth.
The concern of an abundance of algae due to the sunlight as of now the tank is clear I need to clean the glass maybe every other week and its more of a white residue.
Might also have something to do with ‘SkimZilla” MY MRC MR-6R Protein Skimmer this thing is a beast with the Hammerhead gold pump running it at 5800 gph.
PO4 ranges from 0.0-.02 // NO3 ranges from 0.0 – 0.02 //Calcium range 490-510// Magnesium 1350-1400// PH 8.1-8.2 // S.G. 1.024-1.025// Alk 9.5// Temp range 76-78.
Topoff water about 4-5 gal a day.
I do a 50gal water change every week.
I change filter socks everyother day I'm using 50 micron 7"-16" felt socks.
I’ve cut my electric bill by about 40% from when my 150 was setup with 1390watts of lighting and a 1/2hp chiller.
LoneRanger the Sun-Domes are 22inches from the top of the water that gives me plenty of room to work on the tank. The flange on the sun-dome needs about 12inches of clearance all the way around when you install them on your roof you will need many extra bends to get 3 over your tank you will lose quite a bit of light refection because of the extra bends. Look into going with 3 18”
Hey I was just wondering if you had any pics of the back of your frame/stand? I really like your build and am currently doing a similiar build with my 135. Best of wishes to your wife as well!
DrDelay // good luck with your build hope to see some pictures soon hope these help.
LoneRanger// I will be hosting a TBRC meeting probably in April or May stay tuned"¦
SaleenSc405// I designed the sump and a friend who owns a local shop built it for me.
Here are some more pictures of the system I still have quite a bit of work to complete on the plumbing and electric all my free time is spent with my wife and not working on the tank.
Really nice setup JDP thank you for the invite to your thread. I hope your wife is doing better, we will say some words for her Sunday.
I wish I could have used the solar lights for my tank instead of just the refugiums. but with the layout I have it was not possible. I look forward to more updates on both your tank and your family.
Thanks for the added pics I was curious to see how the back was supported as I figured there would have to be a support or 2. I built mine without any support between the legs. Hopefully when I post my build everyone will agree that it should be enough support.
