Pife's One fifty glass box build

Sorry to hear about your troubles!! You've had more hard times than most with sticks:(

Dinos are bad news and the cure is sometimes worse than the illness. Have you considered getting a tank sitter next time you go on vacation? I know you had some really high dollar stuff, hope some of it survives.

:/

Sorry about your tank dude. That sucks.

It could still be worse. The bright side is it has sparked my interest again. As like most things the most expensive are the most fragile. I lost a lot of the nicest coral I had. It is also letting me focus on what I'm going to put in my display tank.

That sucks big time Pifey, the prettiest ones always go first - the more one off it looks the more likely it will fall on it's alk sword mate :hammer:

From all your mates here who know exactly how it feels........... :love1:

Giving the scape a tweak before you start adding anything new might add some new perspective and excitement to the process.......... DO IT ! :twitch: :D

Gosh dang Pife, I'm sorry man!!

I'm glad you're looking at the bright side instead of dwelling! That's the best way to go about it, even though I'm sure it's tough!

I don't have a scape to tweak or I would!

If I didn't stay positive I would have quit the hobby years ago.

I think my tank turned a big corner today. Pe is back on literally every piece. There was nothing new dying today and I actually used up significant alk. It was nice being happy looking into my tank and not dreading tomorrow. During all this I discovered something really off too. My calcium is way way way up like I used 1.6ml of tritation to get the red sea kit to turn. I was able to repeat the results so I feel that they are accurate as its a newer kit. I'll borrow someone's test or get my water tested at an lfs just to make sure. I tested new saltwater also and it tested at 440 so I think it accurate. I'm not sure how my calcium got so high because I run a calcium reactor. I plan on dosing up some alk daily just to burn off the calcium unless someone can tell me a better way.? My calcium reactor is tuned way low right now so it's still producing but I'll graph it out over the next week or 2 and get it dialed back in. Hopefully with the big 3 in balance.

I have been working on my stand and it is coming along well I need to pick up some magnets for the side panels and get my canopy lift wired up more permanently.

All in all my week is going good!

Water change is quick and easy way to normalize calcium level.

I think I need to change more water than. I've done 4 forty gallon ish water changes. Granted I haven't tested since the last one so I'm guessing that it was really out there high.

I can't help but wonder if that is what brought out the dinos?

Hey Pife, good to hear things are getting back to normal.
The Armageddon is always soul sucking but the recovery is always so satisfying.
Hope to see some bounce back shots! :)

:hammer:So I picked up my new canopy last week and when I unboxed boxed it on Sunday it was broken!:mad2::blown::fun2::angryfire::deadhorse::headwally::headwalls::debi::sad1:

I am going to repair it as it's a pain to get it loaded back up and I also have to get a baby sitter for my son as it won't fit in my subaru with his car seat Installed.

Pictures are uploading as we speak

Here are some crappy pictures. (better than no pictures) I've saved a couple of pieces from death and removed many more colors are way off but I see marked improvement daily.

You can see the poopy colors and some die back in this photo. On the left side there is still a little bit of the red mille left. It may never color back up though. The acro that is encrusted in that picture used to be really nice light pink. Now it's a lovely shade of brown. I guess atleast it's still alive

You can see more die back and extreme color change of my pro corals rainbow acro. It's this crazy greenish yellowish color. The red dragon on the right is coming back strong.

Here's a red planet that almost completely died. I can not believe how fast of a growing coral this is. I'll try and take more picture of it to so the progression.

Here is one of my favorite fish in the tank. It's a Pintail fairy wrasse. It is always out in about until I try and take is picture.

Most corals are bouncing back great.

In the back right is a new one I picked up that is blueish bodied with yellow coralites. It's been in the system a week and is holding up great. I wish I could get some true color pictures if it. It's a stunner.

This is some typical damage that was done to a lot of my corals. This is an Ora that I forgot the name of. The damage is where flow hits it. I'm thinking if moving it to lower flow but it seems pretty happy.

I am doing pretty good at keeping up with water changes. I've been doing about 20 gallons a week. I have been using aquaforest probiotic and thier reef Salt. It's a great salt and mixes good just a little pricey. I'll be changing to fritz Rpm. I choose it because the alk is nice and low. I'm also thinking of using aquaforest probiotic every so often to see if I can see any results. I think that I already get a positive reaction from it.

Cool. It looks like you put all those colourful gems in there and then turned up the heat. With all of the encrusting, it looks like they've melted all over.

It's coming along.
I'm working hard at maintaining stability with parameters. Trying to work the balance between low NO3 & PO4, and not letting them get too low.

I'm trying be able to keep and grow beautiful SPS like you guys...
